Abstract
101,434. Saunders, S. E. Jan. 31, 1916. Planes, arrangement of.-Biplanes have their planes connected together by rigid crossed frames c instead of the usual vertical struts and crossbracing. The frames c are of hollow pressed steel or of other wrought or cast metal, or they may be of wood or of a composition reinforced with wires. The upper and lower extremities of adjacent frames c, both at the front and rear, are preferably braced by crossed wires. The ends of the frames are maintained in position by the ribs of the planes or by separate struts. Floats, arrangement of.-The floats of seaplanes are connected to extensions e of the forwardly inclined limbs of the frames c adjacent to the fuselage, additional connexions g and lateral struts being also provided.
