Abstract
The invention comprises dihydroquinoline carboxylic acid amides of the formula <FORM:1014057/C2/1> wherein R1 represents an alkyl, aralkyl or halogeno or nitro-substituted aralkyl group, R2 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, haloalkyl, acylaminophenyl, phenyl, halophenyl, nitrophenyl, phenoxyalkyl or heterocyclic group, X represents hydrogen, R3 represents an N-alkyl, N-aryl, N-cycloalkyl or N-aralkyl-substituted carbamoyl group in which the aryl or aralkyl radicals may be substituted in the ring by chlorine atoms or by methyl, methoxy or dimethylamino groups, R4 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, aryl, alkoxy or cyano group, and Y represents hydrogen or halogen atom or one Y radical and R4 together represent a fused benzene nucleus. The compounds are prepared by reacting a quinoline salt of the formula <FORM:1014057/C2/2> with an isonitrile of the formula <FORM:1014057/C2/3> in the presence of an alkali metal or trialkylammonium salt of a carboxylic acid of the formula R2 . COOH wherein R5 represents an alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl group in which the aryl or aralkyl radicals may be substituted in the ring by chlorine atoms or by methyl, methoxy or dimethylamino groups.
