Abstract

Solid, non-hygroscopic, water-dispersible pharmaceutical compositions are prepared by mixing a crystalline sugar with 1 to 5% of its weight of highly dispersed silica and/or calcium silicate, impregnating the mixture with a hot, aqueous solution of citric and/a tartaric acid, rapidly drying the impregnated mixture to a moisture content of 0.2 to 0.3% by weight, finely grinding the product and adding thereto one or more therapeutically active components. One or more synthetic sweetening agents, flavours, dyes, effervescent ingredients, thickening, emulsifying or lubricating agents may also be included in the compositions which may be pressed into tablets, pills or dragees. Therapeutically active components mentioned are aspirin, ascarbic acid and a multi-vitamin mixture.
