Abstract

The bonding of polyethylene terephthalate tyre cord to rubber is improved by treating the filaments, cord yarn or fabric used for the production of the tyre cord with an aqueous solution containing a diglycide ether of an aliphatic dihydric alcohol having 2-6 carbon atoms and a heterocyclic or aliphatic amine heating to 160 DEG -245 DEG C. and then treating them with an aqueous dispersion of a resorcinol-formaldehyde precondensate and a vinyl pyridine latex. The diglycide ether may be the diglycide ether of butane-1, 3-diol, butane-1, 4-diol, butane-2, 3-diol, propane-1, 2-diol, propane -1, 3-diol or ethylene glycol and suitable amines are piperazine, piperidine, pyridine, hexamethylene diamine, diisopropylamine, guanidine, dicyandia
