Abstract
Vinyl naphthalene is obtained by heating methyl naphthyl carbinol at 300 DEG to 350 DEG C. in contact with a surface active dehydration catalyst, e.g. activated alumina. The methyl naphthyl carbinol may be obtained by the process disclosed in Specification 626,313, of which the present Specification is a division and the dehydration is effected in the same way and described with reference to the same flow-diagram as that shown and described for the dehydrating step in the said Specification.
