Abstract
1,011,524. Bowling alleys. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. Aug 1, 1962 [Aug 3, 1961], No. 29580/62. Heading A6D A bowling alley is provided, intermediate its approach zone 14 and pin deck 18, with an array of lamps either embedded in the floor of the alley as at 28, or mounted on a frame above the alley, the lamps being adapted to automatically furnish on the floor of the alley an array of illuminated spots corresponding to the array of pins left standing on the pin deck at any point of the game, in order to assist the aim of the player. Means are also provided to enable the player to control the illumination of the lamps for practice purposes. Each lamp 30 of the array 28 is wired in circuit with a relay 66 and micro-switch 74, the latter being automatically closed to energize the relays and illuminate the lamps if and when the pinsetting table grips the corresponding pin on the deck 18, as happens during the process of re-setting standing pins between throws by the player. A time switch 82 connected across each of the microswitches 74 controls the time interval during which the lamps remain illuminated. The apparatus also comprises an array of switches 72 for selective operation by the player, the switches.bypassing the relays and micro-switches. An indicator panel 26 may be provided, the lamps 76 thereof being adapted to operate simultaneously with the corresponding lamps 30 of the array 28.
