In a multiple installation, one or more individual electrical devices such as switches, keys, sockets, lamps and the like, are fastened to a conducting bearing rail mounted in a box and the supply contacts of the devices are electrically connected to the rail, which has at least one connection to a supply terminal and which is adjustable in height relative to the box. In one embodiment, Figs. 1, 3, the rail 4 extends parallel to the bottom of the box 1, its ends being supported in blocks 2 held between arms 1c integral with box walls la. One or more switches 5 are symmetrically positioned on rail 4 by means of upwardlydirected teeth 4a on the latter which project through an aperture 5b in the switch housing 5a to engage contact springs 5f and hence connect with a contact rocker 5d. The housing 5a rests on supporting arms 8 parallel to rail 4. Each block 2 is fastened to the base 1 by a captive screw 3 which may be turned to raise the block for surface-levelling and a coverplate may be fixed to the box at each side by two pins thereon engaging in resilient sockets in the block 2. In another embodiment, Figs. 5, 7, the major faces of bearing rail 15 are parallel to the bottom of the box 10 and the rail 15 has lugs 15c formed in its side edges. Each switch 16 has a two-part housing 16a with a U-shaped recess accommodating a resilient yoke 17 metallically connected to the switch rocker 18a. The lugs 15c engage spring 17 as shown, and are again arranged so that an odd or even number of switches may be symmetrically mounted in the box. Alternative ways of fastening the rail-supporting blocks to the box wails are described (Figs. 6, 9a and 9b, not shown).
