Abstract
1,010,642. Reciprocating motors and pumps. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Jan. 20, 1964 [Feb. 22, 1963], No. 7197/63. Heading F1A. A double-acting motor or pump comprises a rotor 17 eccentrically mounted on a drive shaft 16 and housing a piston 19 connected through a pin 20 and spigot 14 to a sleeve 13 rotatable in a housing 10. Piston 19 defines one pumping chamber in cylinder 18 and another pumping chamber in housing chamber 11, the pumping chambers having ports 25, 26 communicating alternately with inlet and outlet connections 21 and 22 via kidney ports 23 and 24 in housing 10. Sleeve 13 rotates in a bearing sleeve 12 of P.T.F.E. Rotor 17 is biased towards the valve face by a spring assembly comprising a bowed, star-shaped member 27 secured to an apertured disc 28 and acting through a rubbing ring 30. A passage 32 connects the spring chamber to cylinder 18.
