Abstract
1,010,610. Electromagnetic relays. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. Out. 23, 1962 [Nov. 9, 1961], No. 40126/62. Heading H2B. An L-shaped armature 12 is mounted on an L-shaped yoke 11 by a pre-stressed spring plate 32 which biases the armature away from the core 17 of the relay and is protected against overbending by a stop 61. The spring plate 32 is secured to the yoke 11 by screws 33 which pass through vertical slots in the plate, thereby allowing adjustment of the gap between the armature and yoke. The spring is bowed prior to assembly and may be made of a beryllium copper alloy or of magnetic material. The armature 12 actuates two change-over contact sets 39, 40, 41 separated by an insulating arc barrier 51 which has an edge 53 to limit upward movement of the armature and an edge 52 which overlies the bobbin 16 of the relay. A non-magnetic shim 54 is secured to the armature 12 to prevent sticking. A bowed spring pressure plate 59 overlies the upper part of the plate spring 32 which is of octagonal shape.
