Abstract

An ungelled foamed paste of a thermoplastic material may be stored by a method which comprises continuously stirring the ungelled foamed paste in a container at a rate such that substantially no further gas is entrapped therein and such that either the polymer particles contained in the paste are prevented from agglomerating or any agglomerates formed are broken up as soon as they are formed. The term ungelled foamed paste of thermoplastic material refers to stable dispersions of solid particles of a thermoplastic organic polymeric material and a gas in a suitable liquid such that on heating the dispersion gels to a coherent foamed mass. Suitable foamed pastes include plasticized vinyl chloride polymers and copolymers in the form of a dispersion of polymer particles having air-filled cavities in a plasticizer therefor.
