Abstract

1,009,414. Removing sludge. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG A.G. Aug. 17, 1964 [Aug. 23, 1963], No. 33585/64. Heading BID. Sludge is removed from a sedimentation tank by two chains 6 and 7 attached to a revolving central guide 8, the links of the chains being formed as scraper blades. The chains are moved over the tank bottom by means of a rotating motor driven beam 10 and carry the sludge to a central sludge hopper for removal. The addition, removal or lengthening of the chain links alters the shape assumed by the chain. The heights of the individual blades may decrease towards the tank periphery.
