Abstract
1,008,595. Discharging liquids. FIKE METAL PRODUCTS CORPORATION. July 8, 1963, No. 26961/63. Heading FIR. [Also in Division F4] An explosion-actuated, rupture disc unit for the outlet of a high pressure fluid container, comprises a domed flangible disc 20, e.g. of stainless steel, having strips of explosive material 42 arranged in a cross and located on weakness lines in the disc, e.g. produced by creasing, so that the disc bursts along the lines of contact of the explosive. A double layer 46 of explosive is provided at the centre of the dies, to determine the initial point of fracture. A detonator 50 in the disc housing 26, contacts explosive strip extension 42a, and is electrically actuated through wires 52, 54.
