Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:1008452/C2/1> (wherein R and R1 are the same or different and each represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or a C1- 6 alkyl or alkoxy group, and R2 represents a alkyl or cycloalkyl group containing not more than six carbon atoms) and acid addition and quaternary salts thereof, and their preparation by oxidizing the parent amine or an acid addition salt thereof, optionally followed by acid addition or quaternary salt formation. The compounds of the invention are tranquilizers and potentiate barbiturate sedation; they may be administered orally or parenterally, e.g. in aqueous solution.
