Abstract

1,008,350. Drying, heating or cooling granular material. BRITISH CAST IRON RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. July 21, 1964 [Aug. 3, 1963], No. 30886/63. Headings F4G and F4U. In apparatus for drying, heating or cooling granular material, e.g. sand, the material is fed by a conveyer 8 through a funnel 12 into an upper box 10 mounted on springs and vibrated by motors (not shown) to act as a vibratory conveyer and having a permeable membrane or tray 24 at its bottom through which heated or cooled air is passed to fluidize the material whereby it flows over a discharge edge 30 into a second box 11 substantially similar to the box 10 wherein further fluidization and treatment occurs before passing to an outlet 31. Pipes 20 . . . 23 and further pipes (not shown) are immersed in the fluidized beds in the boxes 10, 11 and are supplied with further heat treatment medium.
