Abstract
1,007,934. Bi-stable circuits. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. Nov. 9, 1961 [Nov. 30, 1960], No. 14263/65. Divided out of 1,007,933. Heading H3B. A circuit driven by a carrier oscillation has two stable states in one of which the carrier is transmitted and in the other it is not. Carrier oscillations from generator 10 are fed to line 12 but are shunted to ground by a series arrangement of a non-linear capacitance diode 28 and an inductor 30 if the diode is biased to accept the oscillation. Direct current bias for the diode is derived from the transmitted oscillations by a rectifier 14 and is fed back to the diode over the line 12 as in Fig. 2, or over a separate circuit as in Fig. 1. The feedback biases the diode 28 to reject the oscillations and to maintain the transmission on the feedback. In Fig. 1, the direct current and carrier paths are separated by filters as shown. The circuit is set by a signal on terminal 18. The linear inductor and the non-linear capacitance diode may be connected in series in the transmission line 12. Fig. 6 includes an output circuit with a second rectifier 48. The condition of the circuit is indicated by a voltage on terminal 52.
