Abstract
1,007.503. Box pallets; loading and unloading. STEADMAN INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 26, 1963, No. 11980/63. Headings B8E and B8H. A freight container, e.g. forming the body of a vehicle, has rigid corner foundation elements providing a socket in which a load handling device can be locked. A container C has a base B formed of rails 20, 22 having corner foundation elements providing sockets 30 in which handling devices such as adjustable legs 50 or supporting jacks 70 can be locked by pins 40. Secondary sockets 42 may be provided to receive fork lifts which may be locked therein by the pins 40 in an alternative position. The legs may be secured, when not in use, in recesses 59 formed by the overhang of the walls 12 by means of the pins 40 operating in the secondary sockets 42. The rails 20 may be hollow so that when jacks 70 are in use they may be interconnected in pairs for simultaneous operation. In the modification of Fig. 5 the sockets 30 may be used to facilitate sliding of the container by a cylinder 60 having a dog 64 co-operating with a rack 66 and having a rod 61 connected to the socket 30 by its locking pin 40 engaging the eye 62 of the rod 61.-
