Abstract

1,006,701. Motor vehicle driving gear. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. July 31, 1964 [Sept. 13, 1963], No. 36090/63. Heading B7H. A transmission unit comprises a clutch 3 connectible to an engine crankshaft, a synchromesh gear-box with mainshaft and layshaft axes parallel to the clutch axis and a transfer gear 7 meshing with gear 5 of the clutch output shaft and an input gear 9 rotatable on the mainshaft 11 and mounted between the spaced journal bearings 15, 17 supporting the main shaft 16. Gear 9 preferably meshes with a layshaft gear and differential drive pinion 39 is mounted on the mainshaft 11. The onepiece casing 1 for the gearing also forms the engine sump.
