Abstract
1,005,427. Mixing cement. CHAMBERS BROS. Ltd. Sept. 19, 1963 [Sept. 27, 1962], No. 36721/62. Heading B1C. Agitating apparatus primarily for cement comprises a pressure vessel 10 having agitators 21 given a motion of rotary reciprocation about a vertical axis by a reciprocating operating rod 26 and slide crank 27 (see also Fig. 2, not shown), supported by a spider 28. The cement is discharged through a valve 12 and conveyed through a flexible hose 19 to a cement gun by compressed air, which is also used for pressuring the vessel 10 and for pneumatcially operating a piston and cylinder to drive the rod 26. The agitators 21 are of such size and shape that reciprocation through an angle of about 90 degrees is sufficient to scrape the whole circumference of the vessel 10. There may be a second pressure vessel 11 filled through a hopper 15 and slide valve 17 and discharging through a cone valve 13 to the vessel 10; preparation of successive batches may then be continuous since it is possible to charge the vessel 11 while the vessel 10 is still under pressure.
