Abstract

1319883 Flexible-walled mixing apparatus C M VAN GINNEKEN 22 Oct 1971 [23 Oct 1970] 49197/71 Heading B1C Mixing apparatus comprises a shaft 16 with mixing members 23, operable within a mixing chamber which has a flexible cylindrical wall 2 engaged around its outer periphery by driven rollers 25 which deform the wall 2 and thus prevent build-up of caking deposits. The rollers 25 are each rotatable about an axis transverse to the mixing shaft, and are arranged in staggered groups 27. Each group comprises a plurality of rollers, and each roller has a generatrix which is part of a circle of radius slightly less than that of the wall 2. The groups are reciprocated longitudinally by means of piston and cylinder arrangements 30 and supports 24. Powdered material is supplied via a pipe 11 and liquid via spray nozzles 13.
