Abstract

1370733 Pelleting fodder SOC FFSA 18 Jan 1972 [19 Feb 19711 2437/72 Heading A2B An apparatus for compressing fibrous substances such as fodder into caked form, comprises means for forcing the fibrous substance through a circular conduit whose cross section decreases from the inlet to the outlet, said conduit being defined by a central wheel and a series of satellite rollers peripherally distributed therearound at a progressively decreasing distance from the inlet to the outlet. Fig. 1 shows one form of apparatus, fodder from hopper 2 being pushed via channel 5 by means of alternating pistons 4 and 4a into the entrance 11a of conduit 11, being defined by rotatable wheel 12 and rollers 13a - 13i. The wheel 12 is provided with flanges, shown by the dotted line, to form the other two walls of the conduit, and the surface of 12 may be grooved to ensure better feed. Guide bars 30 are provided to direct the flow of feed.
