Abstract

1,004,917. Heating and cooling buildings; refrigerating; cooling gases by contact with cold solids. HEATOVENT ELECTRIC Ltd. Aug. 20, 1964, No. 34161/64. Addition to 975,560. Headings F4H, F4K and F4U. The thermal storage block described in the parent Specification is modified in that some of the U-grooves 15 in the mineral blocks 11 contain cooling tubes through which a refrigerating medium is passed, whilst the rest of the U-grooves 15 contain the heating elements as described in the Specification referred to above. The storage blocks can therefore be used to heat or to cool a building. A further modification is that the mineral mass may be a finely divided mineral material such as sand, a mixture of inorganic salts, or a single salt such as Glauber's salt, with a high latent heat of fusion contained in an impermeable casing.
