Abstract

A solid transparent (defined) copolymer of 4-methyl hexene-1 with a minor amount of a linear 1-olefine having from 4 to 18 carbon atoms is prepared by copolymerizing the two monomers, using the method of polymerization and purification described in Specification 942,297. In the example, 4-methyl hexene-1 is bulk copolymerized with pentene-1 with a catalyst comprising titanium trichloride and aluminium diethyl chloride and the copolymer is purified with a mixture of acetyl acetone and isopropyl alcohol.
