An aquaplane comprises an upper part 1 provided with hand holds 8 and appropriate recesses for a prone figure, and a lower part 2 having a central keel member 5 and if desired additional members 6, 6a, the two parts 1 and 2 being formed of reinforced synthetic plastic joined together at 3 to form a protective belt. The member 5 may be hollowed and provided with an external coating of polyethylene. To resist abrasion the surface of the parts 1 and 2 may incorporate corundum.
