A pressure responsive capsule 1. 2 has,connected to section 1, a valve stem 5 provided with a valve head 16 which co-operates with a valve seat 12 to seal off the interior of the capsule 12 should the capsule be subjected to an excessive pressure. A further valve head 17 may be provided to cooperate with a valve seat 18 to prevent the interior of the capsule 1, 2 being subjected to a large reduction in pressure. Seatings 12 of different height may be interchangeableto determine the pressure to which the capsule 1, 2 is subjected. In the case of a reduction in pressure sealing rings 23 of different thickness are provided. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 3 (not shown), the valve head 17 is adjustably mounted. The valve seat 12 may be disposed in the head 16.
