Abstract
100.311. Soc. Anon. des Gants Alexandre. April 21, 1915, [Convention date]. Disinfectants and antiseptics.-Leather used in glove manufacture is treated, to render it immune from attack by bacteria in cutaneous exudations, with organic derivatives of salicylic and benzoic acids. The leather is placed in a bath containing methylic or ethylic ethers of benzoic acid or methylic, ethylic, amylic, or phenylic ethers of salicylic acid, mixed with odour-masking substances and salted eggs. Before dipping into the bath, the leather is purged, after taking and before dyeing, in an acid bath to eliminate alkalis and saits, formic and lactic acids being preferably used, and then passed through an alum bath and washed
