Abstract

Cellular articles are made in a polypropylene mould. Articles are made of polyurethane, latex foam rubber or plasticized or unplasticized vinyl resin, such as polyvinyl chloride. Polyurethane foam is derived from an organic isocyanate or isothiocyanate (e.g. toluene diisocyanate) and an organic compound having a plurality of isocyanate-reactive groups (e.g. a polyether diol such as polyglycol, a polyester, a polyesteramide or a glyceride of a hydroxy acid such as ricinoleic acid). The polyurethane is formed by a one-stage reaction between these materials, or by way of a prepolymer as an intermediate reaction product having available NCO or NCS groups.
