Abstract
100,152. Deutsche Gold- & Silber- Scheideanstalt, vorm. Roessler. March 10, 1915, [Convention date]. Sodium perborate, obtaining; electrodes.-Cathodes used in the production of sodium perborate (bv anode oxidation) are made of substances which, either as such or in combination, tend to decompose the perborate catalytically, good yields being obtained notwithstanding this tendency. Such substances are lead, iron, nickel, copper, and carbon. Metals not having the property referred to, for instance zinc, tin, and aluminium, are found to be unsuitable. At the surface of the electrolyte, the cathodes, unless of nickel, are protected against the action of the liquid and air, for instance by coating them with a metal such as platinum, or a resistent varnish, or by covering them by rubber tubing.
