Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of general formula <FORM:1001356/C2/1> wherein R1 and R2 are halogen, or R1 is methyl and R2 is halogen, or R1 is halogen and R2 is methyl, or R1 is halogen and R2 is ethyl; R3 is hydrogen, halogen or methyl; and their preparation as exemplified, comprising (1) reaction of corresponding acids or their reactive derivatives with esterifying agents, or (2) reaction of 2-halo or amino-benzoic acid esters with, respectively, amino- or halo-R1R2R3-benzenes. N - (R1R2R3-Phenyl)anthranilic acids and their salts are prepared by (1) reacting potassium o-halobenzoates with R1R2R3-anilines using an unreactive solvent, a copper-containing catalyst and a proton-acceptor, or (2) hydrolysis of the lower alkyl esters; acid halides are prepared with, for example, thionyl chloride, and acid anhydrides by reacting the acid chloride and sodium salt. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise compounds I with diluents and excipients. Forms are mentioned for oral (tablets, pills, sachets, powders, capsules) and parenteral (solutions, suspensions) administration. The compounds are anti-inflammatory and hypycholesteremic.
