Abstract
1,000,848. Ring-rail apparatus. DENCO A.G. Oct. 10, 1962 [Oct. 13, 1961], No. 38338/62. Heading D1D. A control device for a spinning-frame having mechanism for driving the ring-rail to produce cops of predetermined formation, comprises first means for displacing the ring-rail at the end of the normal wind to build a tip-bunch, a second means for automatically displacing the ring-rail from the bunch-building position to a lower doffing position and means for locking it there. In Fig. 1, the ring-rail 13 is traversed by pokers 14 or arms 16 counterweighted at 17 on shafts 19 with interconnected quadrants 18 one of which is connected by a chain &c. 21 to a pulley 22 Fig. 2. This is fixed to a shaft 45 geared at 60, 62 to a shaft 62 clutched at 74 under the control of a solenoid 73 to a pulley 67 connected by a chain &c. 78 to a builder-motion 80. Thus with the solenoid inactive and the clutch engaged, pulley 22 is rotated by pulley 67 gradually to pay-out chain 21 and allow the counterweights 17 to raise the ring-rail to effect the build. A spring 69 ensures that the chain does not become slack. Shaft 45 is connected to the output side of an electromagnetic clutch 40, the input side of which is constantly drawn by the drafting-mechanism 24 through gearing 26, 27. When solenoid 73 is energized, the clutch 74 is separated; with clutch 40 energized, pulley 22 is rotated to wind in the chain 21 and lower the ring- rail in controlled fashion. When the rail reaches doffing position, a spring-urged plunger 53 snaps into a recess in a pulley 51 on shaft 45, and locks the ring-rail. At this point, an enlarged part 54 of the plunger opens a normally-closed switch 82. The solenoid 73, clutch 40 and the frame-motor are in circuit with switches which are controlled by a timer 86. This is set into operation by a limit switch 81, which is momentarily closed when the ring-rail reaches a position when the normal build is completed. The actuation of the timer immediately completes a circuit to "lock. in" the timer-motor which thus continues to operate when switch 81 re-opens; it also closes a switch to complete a circuit for the solenoid 73 which is thus energized, to de-clutchpulley 67 from shaft 62. The pulley thus freed from the control of the building- mechanism allows the ring rail to be raised by the counterweights 17 to a position where tip-bunches are built. After a pre-set time, the timer closes a switch to complete a circuit for clutch 40 which is thus engaged to drive pulley 22 from the drafting- mechanism, to wind-in the chain 21 and lower the ring-rail. When it reaches doffing position, it is locked as above described and switch 82 is opened to break the circuit to clutch 40. Timer 86 now opens the circuit for solenoid 73, so that the pulley 67 and shaft 62 are again clutched together, and to open the circuit to the frame motor. A motor start-switch 125 and stop-button 130 are provided. Pulleys 22 and 67 can be changed to vary the rate of the build and of the descend of the ring-rail.
