Abstract

100,077. Gry, J. Nov. 25, 1913, [Convention date]. Continuous-discharge apparatus with stationary containers.-Relates to mixing and homogenizing apparatus for liquid or semi-liquid substances. The substances are supplied by a number of adjustable pumps a, b, c or similar measuring- apparatus through a pipe d to a mixing-chamber having a number of superposed compartments f - - k containing rotating horizontal disks o with circularly and radially arranged flat teeth p, which work between obliquely-arranged flat teeth q on the top walls of the compartments. The chamber is surrounded by a cylindrical cooling- jacket s having plates t to direct the cooling- medium, which enters at the bottom, to pass along the walls of the mixing-chamber. Spiral guides r are fitted on the undersides of the disks o to direct the substances into the compartment next below. A pump v forces the mixture from the discharge opening l at the bottom of the chamber to the homogenizing-apparatus, which consists of a chamber 2 containing a slightly conical shaft 4, rotating in openings 5, 6, and adjustable longitudinally to vary the size of the passages 5, 6, through which the mixture is forced into pipes 7.
