Abstract
1,000,140. Heat-insulated containers. K. DAHMEN. June 26, 1962 [Nov. 25, 1961], No. 24468/62. Heading F4U. An insulating container 1 and its lid 2 comprise inner and outer synthetic plastic jackets 5, 6 and 10, 11 which enclose insulation 7 and 12, respectively and a synthetic plastic insert 9 is placed in the container to protect its interior from damage from stored goods. The bottom of the insert is corrugated and the walls 5 and 6 are connected together at the upper edge of the container by a bridge-piece 8. The lid 2 has side walls 13, which overlap the side walls of the container, and flanges 14 which fit between the bridge-piece 8 and the insert 9, the lid being secured to the container by straps 3 and 4. Feet 15 are provided on the bottom of the container, the lid having holders 16 shaped to receive the feet to enable the container to be stacked vertically. The insulation 7, 12 is foamed plastic which may be foamed in situ or prefabricated and inserted between the jackets. In further embodiments layers of soft insulating material, e.g. foam rubber, are secured to either or both of the jackets, and the side walls of the insert 9 may also be corrugated.
