Procédé de détermination d’une caractéristique d’un carburant à appliquer à un injecteur d’un moteur à combustion interne comprenant un réservoir, au moins un injecteur et un capteur de mesure de caractéristique inséré dans un conduit reliant le réservoir à l’au moins un injecteur, procédé caractérisé en ce que : l’on réalise une collecte de données d’une caractéristique du carburant au moyen du capteur de mesure sur une première période de temps, on détermine et on enregistre dans une matrice la moyenne des données collectées à laquelle on associe un compteur de volume de valeur initiale donné, l’on réalise, pour chaque période de temps ultérieure, une collecte de données de la caractéristique du carburant et de volume de carburant injecté pendant la période de temps, on soustrait à chaque compteur de volume associé à chaque moyenne de la matrice le volume de carburant injecté, on détermine la moyenne des données collectées, si la moyenne diffère de plus ou moins un coefficient prédéterminé de la dernière moyenne enregistrée, on enregistre ladite moyenne dans la matrice et on associe à ladite moyenne un compteur de volume de valeur initiale donné, la caractéristique à appliquer à l’injecteur étant la dernière moyenne enregistrée dans la matrice pour laquelle le compteur de volume est égal ou inférieur à zéro.
