Expansion joint cover for the building industry

The present invention relates to an expansion joint cover for the building industry.

There are already in the prior art, expansion joint covers for this type of application, which comprise an elongated member having in its upper part, a covering portion of a joint and in its lower part, fixing wings, intended to cooperate with attachment means, for example elastic, in the joint.

In the state of the art, these joint covers are for example made from extruded profiles.

Thus, these profiles can be extruded for example from plastic or other materials.

Elastic fasteners provided with notches or hooks are then associated with these fixing wings to ensure the fixing of the joint cover in the joint and thus cover the latter.

Such joint covers are used, for example, on the floor, on a wall or on the ceiling of a room to cover the joints.

However, current joint covers have a certain number of drawbacks, in particular as regards the limitation of their field of application due to their nature.

The object of the invention is therefore to solve these problems.

To this end the invention relates to an expansion joint cover for the building industry, of the type comprising an elongated member having in its upper part, a covering portion of a joint and in its lower part of the wings of fixing intended to cooperate with attachment means in the joint, characterized in that it is produced in one piece by folding a single strip of metallic material.

According to other characteristics of the joint cover according to the invention, taken alone or in combination:

- the lateral edges of the single strip of metallic material are folded under the rest of the latter, towards one another;

- The ends of the side edges of the plate are folded in the direction of one another and opposite the covering portion of the joint, so as to define therebetween, a space for receiving the coupling means in the joint;

- the reception space has a progressively decreasing section away from the covering portion;

- the band is made of stainless steel;

- the band is in brushed, raw or textured stainless steel.

The invention will be better understood on reading the description which follows, given solely by way of example and made with reference to the appended drawings, in which:

This joint cover is designated by the general reference 1 in these figures and is therefore intended to be placed in a joint for example 2, between two construction elements for example 3 and 4.

In the example described, these construction elements are, for example, slab portions of a floor of a building.

Of course, applications to wall or ceiling joints can also be envisaged.

As illustrated, the joint cover in the form of an elongated member has in its upper part a covering portion of the joint, designated by the general reference 5, and in its lower part, fixing wings, intended to cooperate with means of attachment in the joint.

In fact, the wings are designated by the general references 6 and 7 in these figures and the means for attaching the joint cover in the joint, are designated by the general reference 8.

These attachment means 8 comprise, for example, any suitable elastic attachment, cooperating on the one hand with the attachment wings 6 and 7 of the joint cover and, on the other hand, with the corresponding facing walls of the slabs 3 and 4, to secure and hold the joint cover in position on the joint.

According to the invention, this joint cover is made in one piece by folding a single strip of metallic material.

Thus, the lateral edges of this single strip of metallic material are folded under the rest of it in the direction of one another.

Thus, we see appear in these figures, the strip which is designated by the general reference 9 in these figures and whose side edges 10 and 11 are folded under the rest thereof in the direction of one another.

In addition, the ends of the lateral edges of this plate are folded in the direction of one another and opposite the covering portion of the joint, so as to form the fixing wings 6 and 7 described above and between them, a space receiving the attachment means 8 of the joint cover in the joint.

These attachment means 8 can themselves also be produced from a strip of stainless material.

Thus, for example, this space for receiving the fastening means 8, may have a progressively decreasing section while moving away from the covering portion to allow the fixing, for example by elastic pinching, of these fastening means 8.

In fact, this strip of metallic material can be made of a material such as stainless steel.

Such a material does not allow such joint covers to be produced by extrusion.

These are then produced by folding and forming.
