INVIOLABLE LIFE JACKET POCKET

The present invention relates to a tamper-evident life jacket pocket. The invention finds a particularly advantageous application with life jackets for airplane seats, but may also be used with seats installed in other means of transport, in particular the seats installed in boats.

Security constraints mean that it is not possible to access the life jacket contained in the pouch without breaking a seal. This seal allows you to quickly see that the pouch has not been opened, and that no object has been placed inside the container.

In order to ensure their inviolability, the pockets for existing lifejackets are generally made of rigid plastic. However, the integration of a rigid housing containing the life jacket generates constraints, in particular a risk of damage to the plastic in the event of an impact, the need to provide a large reserve space, as well as a large mass of all.

The invention aims to effectively remedy these drawbacks by proposing a pocket for a life jacket, characterized in that it comprises:

- a flexible envelope having an internal volume,

- a first plate and a second plate fixed on the side of an open end of the flexible envelope by which a vest can be inserted and extracted from the internal volume of the flexible envelope,

the first plate comprising a closed housing on the interior side in which the second plate is housed,

- in such a way that, in a closed state of the pouch, in which the first plate and the second plate are pressed against each other and that the second plate is received in the housing of the first plate, it becomes impossible insert an object inside the pocket without removing the second plate from the corresponding housing.

The invention thus allows a gain in mass compared to a pouch made of rigid plastic. The invention also makes it possible to facilitate the integration of the pouch while retaining its inviolability.

According to one embodiment, the housing is delimited by a fold of the first plate.

Furthermore, in the following description, the relative terms of interior and exterior type are considered with reference to the envelope of the pouch, an interior edge being positioned on the side of the envelope while an exterior edge is located on the opposite side. In addition, terms of the lower or higher type are understood with reference to a pocket in the position of use in an aircraft for example.

Figures 1 and 2a show a pocket for life jacket 10 comprising a flexible envelope 11. The flexible envelope 11 is preferably made of textile. Alternatively, the envelope 11 may be made of another material such as leather.

A first plate 12 and a second plate 13 are fixed on the side of an open end 14 of the envelope 11 by which a life jacket 16 can be inserted and extracted from the internal volume 17 of the envelope 11. The first plate 12 is fixed by its inner edge to the end 14 of the envelope 11 and the second plate 13 is fixed by its outer edge to the end 14 of the envelope 11.

The plates 12 and 13 are for example flat plates having a generally oval shape. Any other shape (rectangular, round, or other) suitable for the application is nevertheless possible. The plates 12 and 13 are made for example from a rigid plastic material. The plates 12 and 13 could for example be sewn onto the end of the envelope 11. As a variant, the plates 12, 13 could be glued or riveted to the envelope 11.

The first plate 12 has on the side of its inner edge a housing 20 in which the second plate 13 is housed. This housing 20 is closed on the side of an inner edge of the first plate 12 and open towards an outer edge from plate 12.

Thus, in a closed state of the pocket 10, in which the first plate 12 and the second plate 13 are pressed against each other and that the second plate 13 is received in the housing 20 of the first plate 12, it becomes impossible to insert an object inside the pocket 10 without removing the second plate 13 from the housing 20. This is due to the closed configuration of the housing 20 which closes on the inside the space between the two plates 12 and 13 .

According to a first embodiment, the housing 20 is delimited by a fold 21 of the first plate 12 and the opposite face of the first plate 12. The fold 21 is constituted by a portion of the first plate 12 directed towards the outer edge of the first plate 12. The second plate 13 is intended to be positioned against a bottom of this fold 21 closing off access to the interior of the pocket 10.

According to a second embodiment, the housing 20 is defined by superposition of a third plate 22 on the first plate 12. In addition, the inner edge of the third plate 22 is fixed to the inner edge of the first plate 12. It is closed thus access to the interior of the pocket 10 when the second plate 13 is positioned in the housing 20 between the third plate 22 and the first plate 12.

In all cases, the housing 20 has dimensions corresponding to those of the inner edge of the second plate 13.

In addition, the first and second plates 12 and 13 are sealed to each other when the pouch 10 is in the closed state. As can be seen in FIGS. 3a and 3b, the plates 12 and 13 are sealed by means of two sealing devices 25 situated at the transverse ends of the pocket 10. Each sealing device 25 comprises a wire 26 coming from a base 27 . Thread

26 forms a loop having first and second strands 28, 29 each passing through through openings 31 facing each other formed in the first and second plates 12, 13. The free end of the wire 26 penetrates inside a holding device 32 belonging to the base 27. The openings 31 are advantageously made in projecting ears 35 coming from the outer edge of the plates 12 and 13.

Preferably, as can be seen in FIG. 2b, a strap 38 has an end 381 fixed on an internal face of the upper wall of the envelope 11. A guide loop 37 of the strap 38 is fixed on an internal face of the lower wall 44 of the envelope 11. When the pouch is in the closed state, the strap 38 passes behind the life jacket 16, then between the two plates 12 and 13, and exits through the outer edge of the plates 12 and 13. A notch 39 made in the outer edge of the first plate 12 also makes it possible to guide the strap 38 during its handling.

In order to complete the sealing between the plates 12 and 13, the pocket 10 may also include an additional removable fixing means 40. This additional removable fixing means 40 consists of two bands 41 provided with a plurality of hooks fixed on the one of the plates

12, 13 and intended to cooperate with two bands 42 provided with a plurality of loops fixed on the other plate 12, 13. Described below, with reference to FIGS. 4a to 4d, the steps for extracting the life jacket 16. Beforehand, the jacket 16 will have been positioned inside the internal volume 17 of the flexible pouch 10 by insertion via the open end delimited by the two unassembled plates 12 and 13.

The first plate 12 and the second plate 13 are then affixed one against the other and the second plate 13 is inserted into the housing 20 of the first plate 12. The sealing devices 25 can then be placed around the plates 12 and 13 to guarantee their inviolability. In the closed state, the plates 12 and 13 extend substantially vertically, being substantially perpendicular to the direction of longitudinal elongation D1 of the pocket 10.

As can be seen in FIG. 4a, to ensure the extraction of the life jacket 16, the user pulls on the end of the strap 38 which protrudes from the pocket 10. The force applied to the strap 38 has the effect to separate the two plates 12 and 13 relative to each other by unsealing them (cf. FIG. 4b) and to pull the life jacket 16 towards the outside of the pocket 10 (cf. FIG. 4c). The user can then easily extract the vest 16, as illustrated in FIG. 4d.

It encompasses various modifications, alternative forms and other variants which a person skilled in the art may envisage within the framework of the present invention and in particular any combination of the different operating modes described above, which can be taken separately or in combination.

Pouch (10) according to claim 8, characterized in that the removable fixing means (40) consists of at least one strip (41) provided with a plurality of hooks fixed on one of the plates (12 , 13) and intended to cooperate with at least one strip (42) provided with a plurality of loops fixed on the other plate (12, 13). 10.
