Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an aircraft undercarriage equipped with a separator piston made of thermoplastic material. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Most aircraft undercarriages use an oleopneumatic-type damper having a first member (often the sliding rod which carries the wheels) which slides in a second member. The damper may constitute a leg of the undercarriage articulated on the aircraft, or be in the form of an independent element coupled to a rocker arm. The two elements define an internal volume separated by a diaphragm secured to the box in two chambers, including a first chamber extending on one side of the diaphragm inside the first element and filled with hydraulic fluid (sometimes referred to as the air chamber). oil), and a second chamber (sometimes referred to as an air chamber) extending across the diaphragm and filled with hydraulic fluid and pressurized gas, such as nitrogen. Some of these dampers are equipped with a separator piston for separating the hydraulic fluid from the gas in the second chamber, thereby preventing the gas from mixing with the hydraulic fluid, or can pass into the first chamber while the undercarriage is in the stored position in the landing gear compartment of the aircraft. In addition, certain landing gear dampers comprise a third chamber filled with gas under high pressure and separated from the first chamber by a separating piston. The separating piston generally comprises a guide skirt of sufficient length to ensure the free sliding of the separator piston in the damper.
It comprises, in addition, one or more external grooves for receiving one or more seals. The separator piston undergoes little effort, since it is supposed to be in mechanical equilibrium under the pressures of the two equal fluids on either side of the piston. However, under certain circumstances, the separator piston may be in abutment within the damper, and suffer stress due to the difference between the pressure of the hydraulic fluid and the gas pressure (sometimes as much as several hundred of bars).
The separator pistons are traditionally made of light alloy, for mass reasons. However, manufacturing and handling constraints impose minimum thicknesses that do not reduce the mass of the separator piston, while it is often oversized for the efforts it is supposed to undergo. OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The object of the invention is an aircraft undercarriage comprising a shock absorber provided with a separating piston enabling lighter weight to be lightened, and a cost reduction. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION With a view to achieving this object, an aircraft undercarriage comprising an oleopneumatic-type damper filled with hydraulic fluid and gas, and provided with a separating piston which slides in sealing in the shock absorber is proposed. for separating the gas from the hydraulic fluid, wherein, according to the invention, the separating piston is made of thermoplastic material.
The use of thermoplastic material makes it possible to obtain lighter separating pistons for an identical shape. Moreover, shape optimization can be achieved by molding or injecting the separator piston, further reducing the mass of the separator piston.
According to a particular aspect of the invention, the thermoplastic material is polyetheretherketone (PEEK for PolyEtherEtherKetone) and contains short reinforcing fibers, preferably carbon.
DESCRIPTION DETAILLEE DE L'INVENTION La figure 1 représente une jambe d'atterrisseur d'aéronef incorporant un amortisseur. La partie courante 33 est terminée par un fond 34.According to another particular aspect of the invention, the separating piston comprises a groove opening outwardly to receive a seal, the groove being delimited laterally by two flanks which project from the separating piston being rigidified by means of ribs. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The invention will be better understood in the light of the following description of a particular embodiment of the invention, with reference to the figures of the appended drawings in which: FIG. 1 is a sectional view schematic of an aircraft landing gear known per se whose damper comprises a separating piston; FIG. 2 is a sectional view of the separator piston similar to that fitted to the landing gear of FIG. 1, illustrated inside the damper; - Figure 3 is a sectional view of a separator piston according to a particular embodiment of the invention, shown inside the damper; FIGS. 4 and 5 are perspective views of the separator piston of FIG. 3. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION FIG. 1 represents an aircraft landing gear leg incorporating a shock absorber. In known manner, the leg comprises a housing 1 in which a rod 2 is mounted to slide. The rod 2 carries at its lower end an axle for receiving wheels, or a bogie carrying several wheels. A diaphragm 3 carried by a diaphragm holder tube separates the inside of the leg into a first chamber 5 filled with hydraulic fluid and a second chamber 6 filled with hydraulic fluid and pressurized gas. The first chamber is also delimited by a bottom 7 attached to the rod 2. Under the bottom 7 extends a third chamber 8 filled with hydraulic fluid which is separated from a fourth chamber 9 filled with gas under high pressure. a separating piston 10, here made of light alloy. In a manner known per se, the diaphragm 3 and the bottom 7 are equipped with calibrated orifices allowing the passage of fluid from the first chamber 5 to the second chamber 6, and from the first chamber 5 to the third chamber 8, respectively . In Figure 2, a separator piston 20 similar to that already shown has been illustrated. It comprises a skirt 21 which is adjusted with a small clearance to the part of the damper in which the separating piston slides. The skirt is used to ensure the sliding guide of the separator piston in the damper. The skirt 21 is connected to a bowl 22 having a distal portion which delimits an outer groove to receive a seal 23, and a proximal portion which defines a bottom 24 of the separator piston 20. Here, the bottom 24 carries an inflation tube 25. In Figures 3,4 and 5, a separating piston 30 according to the invention has been shown. It comprises a cylindrical end portion 31 which defines a guide surface of the separator piston in the damper. The end portion 31 has a slight recess 32 on its outer portion, to reduce the friction surface with the damper, and optionally receive a sliding strip. The end portion 31 is connected to a current portion 33 here substantially conical, the section gradually decreases (here the current portion is substantially conical). The current portion 33 is terminated by a bottom 34.
Le fond 34 définit ici un palier central 38 pour recevoir un tube de gonflage 38.At the base of the current section, near the bottom 34, two thin planar annular walls 35 protrude outwardly by being stiffened by ribs 36 (only some of them are referenced) extending between said annular walls 35 and the running portion 33. The annular walls 35 define between them a groove adapted to receive a seal 37. The bottom 34 here defines a central bearing 38 for receiving an inflation tube 38.
The separator piston 30 here is made of thermoplastic material, preferably polyetheretherketone containing short carbon fibers. The density of such a material is of the order of 1.4, compared with the density of a light alloy, of the order of 2.7. The separator piston 30 is preferably obtained by injection, which makes it possible to obtain a thin-walled product that does not require any recovery. All this contributes to lowering the mass of the separating piston as well as its cost price.
The invention is not limited to what has just been described, but on the contrary covers any variant within the scope delimited by the claims. In particular, the separating piston may not be equipped with an inflation tube, so that the bottom will be completely closed.
