Abstract

La présente invention concerne un matériau absorbant l'iode contenant un sel, et un système d'élimination de l'iode radioactif utilisant ledit matériau, et plus particulièrement, un matériau absorbant contient un sel qui est un chlorure d'un métal alcalin ou d'un métal alcalino-terreux qui absorbe de façon sélective l'iode radioactif dans l'atmosphère. Le matériau absorbant un nucléide radioactif volatil contenant un sel selon la présente invention, a les avantages de disposer de fonctions d'absorption afin d'absorber de façon sélective l'iode dans l'atmosphère, et est peu coûteux par rapport à un matériau absorbant à base d'argent. Même lorsqu'une espèce d'iode est présente en phases vapeur ou aérosol d'eau, en raison de la capacité hygrométrique du sel, un aérosol peut être efficacement capturé, et en raison de cette caractéristique, lorsque l'iode radioactif est présent en phase gazeuse, il peut être absorbé et le sel peut être correctement utilisé pour éliminer l'iode radioactif dans l'atmosphère. Par conséquent, la présente invention est vouée à être installée dans les centrales nucléaires qui présentent un risque de fuite d'iode radioactif ou dans une installation de stockage temporaire de combustible nucléaire irradié et à être utilisée de façon vitale en tant que moyen principal ou secondaire pour collecter et éliminer l'iode radioactif de l'intérieur de l'installation.
