Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to the field of lighting and signaling of vehicles, including motor vehicles. It relates more particularly to a device for rear lights of motor vehicles, designed and arranged to be incorporated in the trunk door or the tailgate of a motor vehicle, while advantageously leaving a transparency visibility through the device itself or part of it. Motor vehicle tail lamps generally perform a variety of vehicle lighting and signaling functions. In practice, several rear optical devices are generally attached to the vehicle structure, as well as possibly to the trunk door. These include direction indicators or flashing lights, brake lights, fog lights, position lights, parking lights, hazard lights and retro-reflectors. The regulation prohibits the placing on the doors of trunk doors or tailgate photometric functions that would not also be present on fixed parts of the vehicle, because the devices thus placed on the opening are intended only to ensure in case of failure the relay of the same functions provided on the fixed parts. The most common solution is therefore to deport all the rear optical devices of the vehicles out of the safe door, which necessarily limits the width thereof. Another solution has spread, consisting of splitting the optical blocks in two, a part of which remains thus on the body of the vehicle, while the remaining portion is fixed on the door of the trunk, which makes more complex the assembly of these optical blocks and their connections. Attempts have also been made to address in other ways the problem of the opening width of the trunk or tailgate doors of motor vehicles. Thus, the document EP 1 031 462 proposes to place all the rear lighting members in the corners of the vehicle, and to make sure that the lighting members still project the light backwards even when the door trunk or the liftgate is raised. The document FR 2 859 443 proposes, in order to make body parts of motor vehicles visible without the need for illumination elements and a power supply, the use of an electroluminescent film bonded to the workpiece by motor vehicle body concerned, possibly also with transparent external protection. The document FR 2 933 665 describes a motor vehicle tailgate flap provided with at least one cutout to make at least partially visible an optical block attached to the vehicle structure. Optionally, this cutout may correspond to a transparent central portion of the optical block, whose illumination elements may then be light-emitting diodes facing outwards and arranged in a ring around a central hollow zone. This central recessed area is free of any illuminating member and allows the driver to increase its visibility in this direction, called rear three-quarter visibility. The technical and industrial constraints engendered by such cuts and the close matching of the optical block fixed to the structure and the cut made in the trunk door or tailgate constitute a brake on the development of such a solution, which is also compromised by difficulties to obtain a perfect seal between the optical block to appear outwardly and the cut that must correspond at least partially.
The present invention aims to provide an original means for lighting and / or signaling of motor vehicles. It thus aims to overcome the various respective disadvantages of the different signaling light systems of the prior art by providing a device, including a lantern lamp, adapted to be integrated in the trunk door or the tailgate of the motor vehicle and to widen the opening of trunk or hatchback door of said motor vehicle. The device according to the invention is an optical device integrated in the trunk door or the tailgate of a motor vehicle, comprising: a) at least one subassembly essentially composed of a curtain 35 of light or curtain + light guide , and, on either side of it, transparent plates each having at least one part kept transparent and at least one other part rendered semi-transparent, b) at least one light source, in particular of the LED type, connectable to an electrical source and arranged to be able to emit light rays propagating within the thickness of said curtain of light or curtain + light guide, and c) optionally, sealing means capable of ensuring the sealing said device, while said device is adapted to cooperate with at least one lamp which is integrated into the vehicle body and which is arranged to emit light rays through at least a portion of the portion s left transparent of said curtain of light or curtain + light guide. Advantageously, the reflective treatment of the semitransparent parts of the transparent plates is located on the face of said plates facing the curtain of light or curtain + light guide. The device according to the invention thus uses a transparent optical material and at least one LED-type light source arranged to emit light rays propagating inside the thickness of said transparent optical material, for example, but not exclusively, of the type of the optical system described in the French patent application filed on December 11, 2009 under No. 09/05984 in the name of the same applicant, which is mentioned here by reference and by way of reference. In this embodiment, the motor vehicle fire device according to the invention comprises a transparent optical material and at least one LED light source arranged to emit light rays propagating inside the thickness. of said transparent optical material, comprises: a plate of such a transparent optical curtain-forming material, said plate comprising at least one bilateral elongate bulge, of substantially circular or polygonal cross-section, having its mean longitudinal axis in the mean plane of said plate and adapted to form a light guide, and - at least one LED placed at at least one end of said light guide, with its main axis orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of said light guide. The present invention therefore relates to a device for motor vehicle rear lights, designed and arranged to be incorporated in the trunk door or the tailgate of a motor vehicle, as defined above and in the description which follows . The device according to the invention is mainly intended to serve as a lantern or position light, especially at the rear of vehicles.
In the embodiment using the solutions of the French patent application filed on December 11, 2009 under No. 09/05984, except for this or these elongated bilateral bulge (s), of substantially circular cross section or polygonal, the element formed of the optically transparent material is in practice a plate, flat or curved, and the said bulged part is an integral part of said plate. In the present description, the term "element" is used to describe a plate carrying at least one bulge or bead forming a light guide, and "part of a device" the assembly: element + light-emitting diodes, as well as their connections to a source of energy and their possible accessories. "Cylindrical zones" or "substantially cylindrical zones" are referred to as the above-mentioned bulges. In a preferred embodiment, the transparent optical material element is thus a plate, flat or curvilinear (and in this case the angle of curvature may be variable from one end to the other of the plate), and the or the swollen areas pass therethrough, along a longitudinal axis substantially parallel to the mean plane of the plate. In case of plurality of such substantially cylindrical zones, these are preferably substantially parallel to each other. The light guides formed by these bulges may be linear, curved in two dimensions or even bent one or more times in three dimensions. According to a preferred embodiment of this light curtain or curtain + light guide system, the aforesaid device comprises an element having at least one substantially cylindrical zone whose cross section has a diameter substantially greater than the average thickness of the plate. on the surrounding area or areas. This results in an optimized diffusion of light, substantially uniformly by total reflection in all or substantially all the element. This may be glass or preferably plastic, in particular polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) or polycarbonate (PC). It may include conventional inclusions or irregularities intentionally arranged within the element, while the light guide preferably includes prisms of defined structure and angle, to meet the requirements of the relevant regulations. known to those skilled in the art. Such an element can be obtained by injection, according to a conventional technique, in a standard thickness for this type of product, preferably in a thickness of about 3 to 4 mm for the plate and a diameter of about 7 to 10 mm for the cylindrical zone having a light guide function. For practical reasons relating to the mold-demoulding stresses without undercut, the connection line of the bulge with the plate preferably comprises a groove, for example of approximately 1.5 mm in width and 2.2 mm in thickness. , without this being limiting. On the basis of the prior art and its own knowledge, the skilled person is able to select a positioning of the LED or on or near the said cylindrical areas of transparent optical material. In practice, the LEDs are placed on or near a peripheral edge of the element, to the right of a substantially cylindrical zone aforesaid. Without wishing to be bound by any theory, it is believed that the cylindrical zones act in the material of the element according to the invention as privileged light guides, which diffuse practically all of the light emitted by the source concerned over the entire length of the cylindrical bulge or polygonal elongated variant, and thence over substantially the entire surface of the element bordering or surrounding the substantially cylindrical areas aforesaid. The element thus recommended in option can then be provided with inclusions and / or conventional cavities providing foci of light diffusion and allowing it to be diffused either directly to the outside, or indirectly by reflection on a reflecting face of an element disposed on the inside of the device, in an optical assembly for a vehicle.
The light guide of the element concerned is optionally provided with conventional inclusions arranged to allow the light radiation from the light source to be deflected in the flat or curved wings or plate parts, which extend adjacent to the light guide concerned or in the parts of the element situated between two such light guides. Dots or decorative lines can be optionally included in the plate. They are preferably arranged in staggered rows for reasons of homogeneity.
Conventional cones introduced into the guides by known means are preferably always normal to the surface and without undercut. Optionally, said light guides may also comprise reflector elements and / or decorative elements which, by projection onto the vicinal portions of the device according to the invention, virtually form on the flat or curved surfaces thereof an appropriate shape. . Prisms or other elements of local discontinuity (such as those described in the French patent publication No. 2,868,506) may advantageously be included on the plate, so as to enable it to fulfill the function enacted by the regulations for a lantern of a motor vehicle. In the case of a lantern before, the device is equipped with a white light source. In practice, by replacing the dots included in the plate by continuous lines, dotted or otherwise, one can achieve varied sets, that the illumination of the device reveals with a particularly remarkable relief effect. At the end of the light guide opposite to that which is equipped with at least one LED, it is possible to provide either a cover for masking the light escaping from the plate on its periphery, or a deflection element. metal preference, that is to say chamfers and / or prisms. The device according to the present invention may comprise optional or alternative characteristics, which may be taken separately or in combination, such as in particular: the curtain of light or curtain + light guide is of the type described in the French patent application; December 2009 under No. 09/05984 in the name of the same applicant. - The outer periphery of the device has a shoulder, 5 providing an underlining of the outline of the fire. - Suitable organs and elements and suitably arranged around at least a portion of the periphery of the device according to the invention provide a seal to liquids and / or air between it and the trunk door or the tailgate. The ice protecting the device may be constituted by the outer face of the device according to the invention itself. - The fire is compact and no lighting function is doubled, except the lantern function. The device encloses the curtain of light or curtain + light guide between two walls, which are respectively transparent plates rendered, on certain areas chosen on purpose, transparent or semi-transparent for the external plate, and transparent, semitransparent or mirror for the inner plate, with the latter a non-tain area to be seen the projector located behind, in the trunk, and illuminating this area. - The interior light located on the vehicle body optionally fills the lantern, brake light, reversing light, fog lamp, preferably with a type of light emitting diodes per function. - A traditional seal (eg snapon type) surrounds the device attached to the trunk door or the tailgate, and thus ensures tightness. The lighting or signaling device thus formed can fulfill the conventional functions of direction indication, stop, back and fog lighting, among others. The invention will be better understood, and other objects, advantages and features thereof will become more apparent in light of the following detailed description of embodiments of the device according to the invention.
