The present invention relates to a device for connecting an electrical conductor to an electrical resistance of a flat and flexible electric heating element. Electric heaters that are flat and flexible are known. The resistor or resistors they contain are connected by terminals to a power source by electrical conductors. Various techniques can be employed to provide the connection between a terminal of the resistor and the corresponding conductor.
The present application proposes a particular connection device more particularly adapted to resistors of the ribbon type, that is to say flat resistive conductor and in particular of the type obtained by cutting according to a determined resistive pattern of a resistive metal sheet. In general, the resistive pattern is configured to traverse most of the heating element to provide substantially uniform heating over the entire surface of the heating element. Thus, the invention relates to a device for connecting an electrical conductor to an electrical resistance of a flat and flexible electric heating element.
According to the invention, the electrical resistance comes from a cutting of a resistive metal sheet of substantially uniform thickness in a determined resistive pattern consisting of an elongated and contoured track of reduced thickness relative to its width, the track is continuing at the connection by a tab made in the metal sheet during cutting, said tab having an edge or corner at another edge or corner a substantially straight line of weakness between two parts of said tab, said weakening line allowing the folding of a portion of the tab on the other, one of the parts further comprising a through hole allowing the passage of the electrical conductor through said portion and the device is configured to sandwich between the two folded portions of the leg the conductor passed through the through hole. In various embodiments of the invention, the following means can be used alone or in any technically possible combination, are employed: the cutting according to the resistive pattern is carried out by one of the following means: laser, chemical or electrochemical - the tab has lateral dimensions such that its minimum lateral dimension is greater than the width of the track, - the device is intended for connecting an end of an electrical conductor, - the device is intended for connection of a intermediate point of an electrical conductor; - the device is intended for the connection of several electrical conductors; - the part of the lug comprising the through-orifice in addition comprises at least one other one; - the electrical conductor is an electric wire, the electrical conductor is insulated by an outer insulating sheath and its end is stripped, the through orifice at a diameter of it passes through the stripped end of the electrical conductor but not the sheath, - the through hole is made in the part of the tab which is opposite the part in continuity with the track, 20 - the through hole is made in the part of the tab which in continuity with the track, - the line of weakness is a cutting of two notches at both ends of the line of weakness, - the weakening line is a through-cut in dotted lines or dashes, - the weakening line is a non-traversing eroding, in particular of the dotted line type or dashes, the cutting and / or the eroding of the weakening line are carried out by one of the following means: laser, chemical or electrochemical, folded is substantially triangular, - the unfolded tab is substantially square or rectangular, - the unfolded tab is substantially round or oval, - the two parts of the tab overlap partially after folding, the two parts of the tab overlap substantially completely after folding, the unfolded tab is substantially square or rectangular and the weakening line is disposed between two opposite edges of said tab, the unfolded tab is substantially square or rectangular, the weakening line is disposed between the middle of two opposite edges of said tab so that the two parts of the tab overlap substantially completely, - the unfolded tab is substantially square, the weakening line is disposed between two opposed corners of said tab so that the two parts of the tab overlap substantially completely, - the tab is terminal and is at one end of the track, - the tab is intermediate and is disposed between two portions of the track, - the ends several tracks are continued by one leg, - the two parts of the leg folded one on the other are welded set electrically by points, - the part of the lug comprising the through orifice is folded over the other, the latter remaining in the general plane of the resistive pattern, - at least one of the edges of one of the two parts of the lug comprises a foldable extension that can be folded over the other folded part. The present invention, without being thereby limited, will now be exemplified with the following description of embodiments and implementation in relation to: Figure 1 which is a view of a portion of a resistive pattern with a lead-in tab and Figure 2 which shows three steps in making the lead-to-lead connection. In Figure 1 the resistive pattern 1 is formed of a flat resistive conductor type track 6 which goes back and forth between ends of a heating element to extend over its entire surface. The resistive pattern 1 has been cut, for example by laser, into a sheet of resistive material. 2 connecting tabs are made in the cut sheet to be connected to the pattern of son-type electrical conductors. In Figure 1, only one of these legs 2 is visible and the wire is not yet installed on the leg which can be described as raw leg. The tab being made in the metal sheet, it has a thickness 35 identical to that of the track 6 and is in continuity with the latter. The track 6 continues in the tab 6 which has two parts 4, 5 separated by a weakening line 3 here in the form of two aligned notches from two opposite edges of the tab. In this embodiment, the raw leg is substantially rectangular and the track arrives on one side of the leg which is cut by the weakening line. One of the two, 4, 5 parts of the tab 2 has a through hole 7 through which an electrical connecting conductor can be passed. The weakening line 3 allows the two parts 4 and 5 of the tab to be folded over one another to trap the electrical connection conductor as will be seen in relation to FIG. 2. In this exemplary embodiment, the leg has a minimum lateral dimension which is greater than the width of the track at least in the unfolded state of the leg. In general, it is desirable that the bend along the line of weakness does not interfere with the track on arrival on the paw, which could cause a bend of the track at this point if no way to avoid was not implemented. Also, it is possible to get the track along a side on which does not pass the line of weakness or, as shown, to pass the line of weakness outside the arrival area of the track.
On the left part of Figure 2 is schematized an electrical conductor 8 stripped at both ends and the leg 2 raw. In the middle of Figure 2 is schematized the folding of the two parts 4 and 5 of the tab while the end of the electrical conductor 8 has been passed through the opening 7 and folded against the corresponding part 5. As a result, the electrical conductor 8 is sandwiched between the two folded parts 4, 5 of the tab 2. On the right side of FIG. 2, the final result of the connection can be seen once the two parts 4 , 5 of the tab are fully applied against each other by enclosing the electrical conductor 8 and electrically welded together by points 9 and with the electrical conductor 8. The resistive pattern which is intended for the realization of an element heating, is put in place in an electrically insulating envelope. A particular embodiment of this heating element is to place the resistive pattern on a support layer forming a sheet of the envelope and which is substantially adhesive side of the resistor in order to mechanically stabilize the resistive pattern in contact with the adhesive support layer. It is then understood that the connection to the electrical conductor must be done before placement on the support layer or, so that the tabs must be kept at a distance from said adhesive support until the connection to the electrical conductor is made. Once the resistive pattern has been configured in the event that it is necessary, for example for deletions of breakable temporary bridges and / or stabilization fuses of the resistive pattern, and the connections made, an electrically insulating material is available on the assembly (resistive pattern + support layer) to form the second sheet of the envelope and to close said envelope on both sides of said resistive pattern, which also allows electrically isolating the connections at the tabs. Naturally, the present invention is not limited to the particular embodiments which have just been described, but extends to all variants and equivalents in accordance with its spirit. Thus, it is clear that the invention can be declined according to many other possibilities without departing from the scope defined by the description and the claims. For example, a tab may be in continuity of one or more tracks, said tab being terminal or intermediate depending on the track (s) considered.
The heating element may comprise a more or less complex resistor, for example a simple resistance to two end supply wires, for example a more complex resistor with possibility of paralleling and / or series of resistive tracks as a function of changeable connections.
