Description

The present invention relates to a device for trapping pine processionary caterpillars during the procession of pupation to eliminate them. There are several methods of combating the pine processionary, mechanical, bacteriological, chemical, hormonal. • Mechanical, it is the stripping, which becomes impossible according to the size of the tree, the place, or the user • Bacteriological, treatment by spray with bascillus thuringiensis, its curative duration is limited and its success is dependent on the conditions 10 climatic, epoch and larval stage. • Chemical treatment, with dibenfluenson or other, ecologically harmful, it is recommended only in case of massive infestation • Hormonal, it is the trapping by pheromone utitlisé like counting of the future zones of contamination. Only acts at the butterfly stage and only partially destroys males (about 50%). All these methods have all their limits and present more or less important failure rates. They do not avoid processions of pupation on the ground and their dangers. The device involves intercepting the caterpillars during their pupal procession, 20 along the trunk of the tree and diverting it to a bag filled with soil where they will bury and thus perform on a reduced surface and controlled their protocol pupation. After about thirty days transformed into chrysalis, they will have become harmless and can be destroyed without danger. The purpose of this system is to: a) prevent the procession from reaching the ground to protect humans and animals from contact with particularly stinging caterpillars. b) to limit the proliferation of the insect by stopping their cycle by their destruction (the device prevents them from becoming the future butterfly that could lay up to 300 new). Similar to the patent No. FR 2691045, it makes significant modifications making this system operational, reliable and safe for users. The device consists of a sliding collar adapting to the diameter of the shaft. It consists of: a collar of a semi-rigid material pierced with holes along its entire length so as to evacuate the rainwater. a flexible section of square or rectangular section coming into contact with the collar. This profile is drilled in the middle to receive the down tube. It has a beveled end to facilitate the tracking of caterpillars. 40 -of a fastening system that will tighten all around the trunk. This system can be adhesive, elastic or mechanical. a descent tube which must be in contact with the contents of the receiving bag. Its end is also tapered to allow the caterpillars to reach the contents and bury themselves there. 45 -a putty that comes ensures the seal between the profile and the barks. -a receiver / destroyer bag hanging under the trap. It contains soil or other containers that allow the caterpillars to bury themselves and turn into pupae. This system is totally ecological, it does not use a treatment product, 50 has no influence on other insects and the eco-system. All its components are. recyclable.
