Abstract

The module has technical units constituted by aligned shelves (2) or staggered shelves (1) and polygonal/cylindrical posts whose height increases according to an algorithm to permit the posts to be on sides of a space between the shelves. The shelves are aligned using an assembly with rabbet, and are moved and mixed according to needs. The posts include vertical grooves so as to receive the shelves and doors to close partially or completely furniture. The posts have threaded insert at ends to permit assembling of the shelves by screwing of a threaded rod between the posts. An independent claim is also included for a process of assembling shelves between posts by tightening.

Description

The present invention relates to a concept for making shelves, or other furniture scalable and modular from repetitive elements. Modular existing and comparable shelves are most often constituted by shelves fixed between two ladder type uprights. This method makes it possible to modulate the distance between two tablets, but does not make it possible to modulate the total height of the shelf which is defined by the height of the uprights. In addition, this type of shelf usually requires braces in the form of bottom or stabilizing braces. The concept presented allows furniture to be made from repetitive elements.

This allows to design according to his desire or his needs, furniture that in addition to being scalable are scalable. The elements constituting a piece of furniture, can perfectly, once disassembled be assembled differently in order to realize a quite other piece of furniture (fig.7 and 8). It is of course possible to add if necessary, additional elements to develop a piece of furniture.

This concept makes it possible to produce furniture, either with aligned shelves (fig.2) thanks to an assembly with rabbet (fig.4), or with shifted shelves (fig.1), by using simple shelves (1), or to mix the two possibilities according to his desire (fig.3), the space between each tablet is adjustable thanks to posts of different heights that are inserted between two shelves.

We describe in the following of this document, the realization of a shelf, but this concept is perfectly adapted to the realization of other pieces of furniture, such as corner furniture realized with corner shelves (fig.10), but also, corner furniture, adaptable to rooms whose poorly squared walls form a slightly acute angle (less than 90 °) or obtuse (more than 90 °) (fig.5), or walls with concave or convex curves (fig.6). It also allows to realize desks, coffee tables, combined furniture (for example shelves including a corner office), etc .... The prototypes were realized in solid oak, but they can equally be realized in d ' other material, such as synthetic resin, medium, agglomerated, or even by mixing materials, for example glass or plexi tablets and poles made of stainless steel or aluminum. A shelf made according to the principle of the invention is constituted by the successive assembly of shelves and poles.

There are right shelves (fig.9) and corner shelves (fig.10), these shelves exist in different shapes and sizes, but can be declined in three versions: 1. The simple shelves (1), without rabbet , intended to be assembled in offset. 2. End shelves (2), having a rabbet (fig.4), at one end, constituting the first or the last element of an aligned set of shelves. 3. The middle shelves (3), having a rabbet (Fig.4), at both ends, constituting one or more intermediate elements of a set of aligned shelves. The posts (4) are of cylindrical or polygonal shape, they may include vertical grooves, to receive side shelves, bottom shelves, and even doors, to close all or part of the furniture. They have at each end a threaded insert (5) which allows the assembly of the shelves, by screwing a threaded rod end (6) between two posts (fig.4). The progression of the height of the columns is defined according to the algorithm stated below, allowing to have a number of posts different on each side of a space between two tablets.

For illustration, the prototypes were made with shelves 2cm thick, and high posts: 9cm / 20cm / 31cm / 42cm / 53cm and 64cm. The assembly is carried out by hand without any tools, is achieved by the clamping of shelves between posts (fig.4), it gives a high rigidity and thus ensures a 2940897 -3- excellent stability to the furniture, this ensures a bracing very effective, avoiding the need for reinforcement or braces. The assembly of the furniture is done in successive stages starting from the bottom. It is necessary first to fix adjustable feet (7) on the posts in contact with the ground. It is then sufficient to continue to assemble the furniture, alternating shelves and poles, and it is finalized from above, by screwing top posts (8) or flat head screws (9) according to the preference of each. If a bookshelf is used as a bookshelf, ie for storing books, there are two specific accessories (bookstools) which prevent the books from being overthrown by blocking them at each end. The first, whose concave edges allow it to get stuck between two poles is used at the ends of tablets. The second is made with a sliding caliper sole on the thickness of a tablet, it is used to block books between the ends of tablets.

REVENDICATIONS1. A module for producing furniture, characterized by technical means constituted by tablets, and posts whose height progresses according to an algorithm, allowing to have a different number of posts on each side of a space between two shelves.
