The present invention relates to a motor vehicle side door comprising a stiffener for reinforcing this door with respect to side impacts. Figure 1 is a view showing a right rear door of a motor vehicle, the outer skin has been removed to be able to see the interior of this door. Figure 2 is a schematic sectional view along the plane II-II of Figure 1 Figures 1 and 2 show that the door comprises a door liner 1 which has a bottom 2 and flanks. These flanks comprise a front flank 3 and a rear flank 4. The rear flank 4 comprises in an area shown by the arrow F on FIG 1 a surface 5 (see Figure 3) intended to serve as a support for the lock 6 of the door. The outer edge of the sidewalls 3 and 4 comprises (see FIG. 2) a flange 3a, 4a on which is fixed the outer skin 7 shown in dashed lines in FIG. 2. Furthermore, inside the door, a stiffener 8s extends transversely relative to the height of the door. This stiffener 8 comprises a rigid elongated element 9 whose ends 9a, 9b (see FIG. 2) are fixed by welding to the sidewalls 3 and 4. The elongated element 9 extends close to the outer skin 7 and is attached to the outer skin 7. 10 in a side impact on the vehicle door, the outer skin 7 is deformed and carries with it the stiffener 8. This stiffener 8 being fixed by its two ends to the lining 1 leads with it the two sides 3 and 4. As a result, the surface 5 of the rear flank 4 which supports the lock 6 is deformed 30 which can actuate its internal mechanism and release the closing hook of the door. 2 However, the current requirements require that the side door must not open in the event of a side impact so as not to increase the damage to the occupants of the vehicle, pedestrians or other vehicles. JP 6191276 discloses a side door structure having a stiffening bar having one end attached to the rear flank of the liner. The lock of the door is fixed on a reinforcement of the rear flank of the lining. This reinforcement improves the resistance to deformation of the bearing surface of the lock, in the event of a relatively weak lateral impact, but does not completely solve the problem which is at the basis of the present invention which is to prevent the opening of the door in the event of a significant lateral impact in accordance with the regulations in force. This problem is solved according to the invention with a motor vehicle side door comprising a door liner which comprises a bottom, a front flank and a rear flank, one of these flanks having a surface intended to serve as support for the door lock, the outer edge of these flanks having a flange on which is fixed the outer skin of the door and a stiffener extending transversely to the height of the door, the stiffener comprising a rigid elongated element s extending adjacent the outer skin, characterized in that the end of the stiffener adjacent to the sidewall having a surface to serve as a support for the lock, is attached to the bottom of the liner. Since one of the ends of the stiffener is connected to the bottom of the liner, in the event of a rear impact, the deformation of the stiffener does not cause with it the deformation of the side on which the lock is fixed, so that the door is not likely to open. In a preferred embodiment, the end of said elongated member adjacent the trailing edge has a tab folded toward the bottom of the liner, the end of which is attached to said bottom of the liner so as to be spaced apart from said trailing edge. . Preferably, the end of the folded tab of said elongated member is fixed to said bottom of the liner in a region spaced from the surface of the rear flank which is intended to serve as a support for the lock. Also preferably, the end of the lug has a fold which is welded to said bottom of the liner. According to another advantageous feature of the invention, the elongated element is inclined relative to the horizontal so that the attachment zone of said tab is removed from the surface of the rear flank which is intended to serve as a support for the lock. This arrangement thus contributes to solving the problem which is at the basis of the invention. In a preferred version of the invention, said folded tab is shaped to have a damping function in the event of a side impact on the door. For this purpose, it can be thin enough to bend during impact. This lug thus makes it possible to provide the stiffener with a damping function that does not exist in the known stiffeners. To obtain this damping function, said tab comprises at least one fold extending in a direction substantially parallel to the bottom of the liner. In one embodiment, said fold forms a shoulder located substantially in the middle of the tab. Thus, this fold can initiate the deformation of the leg in case of side impact on the door, this deformation to cushion the shock. According to another feature of the invention, the space between said tab and said rear flank is flared towards the outer skin. This flaring makes it possible to space the end of the elongated element from the rear flank of the lining and to prevent this end from abutting against the sidewall in the event of a relatively minor lateral impact. In one embodiment, said elongated element is reinforced by at least one rib oriented in the longitudinal direction of this element. In one version of the invention, the end of said elongate member opposite the folded tab is attached to the leading edge of the liner substantially in the extension of its outer edge. In an improved version, the end of said elongate member opposite said folded tab is attached to the bottom of the liner in an area adjacent to the leading edge by another folded tab similar to said folded tab. Thus, the stiffener is supported on the door liner by two legs folded towards this lining, which may each have a damping function. Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent throughout the description below. In the accompanying drawings, given by way of nonlimiting example: FIG. 4 is a view similar to FIG. 1 showing a side door according to the invention; FIG. 5 is an enlarged view of the fixing zone of FIG. the folded tab of the stiffener, at the bottom of the lining of the door, - Figure 6 is a view showing the top of the stiffener of the door is according to the invention, - Figure 7 is a side view of the stiffener, - the figure 8 is a sectional view similar to FIG. 2 of a side door according to the invention; FIG. 9 is a partial sectional view of a side door according to the invention; FIG. similar to Figure 9, showing the deformation of the door under the effect of a side impact. The rear side door of a motor vehicle shown in FIGS. 4, 5 and 8 comprises, as in the case of FIG. 1, a door liner 1 which comprises a bottom 2 and sidewalls comprising a front flank 3 and a sidewall. rear 4 which has a surface to serve as a support for the lock of the door. The outer edge of these flanks 3 and 4 comprises a flange 3a, 4a on which is fixed the outer skin 7 of the door and a stiffener 11 extends transversely to the height of the door. This stiffener 11 comprises a rigid elongated element 12 extending close to the outer skin 7.
In the example shown, the end 12a of the elongate element 12 adjacent to the rear flank 4 carries a tab 13 folded towards the bottom 2 of the liner and the end of this lug 13 is fixed to the bottom 2 of the lining of to be spaced apart from the trailing edge 4, as shown in particular by FIGS. 5 and 8. As also indicated in FIGS. 5 and 8, the end of the folded tab 13 of the elongate element 12 is fixed to the bottom 2 of FIG. the lining in a zone spaced from the surface of the rear flank 4 which is intended to serve as a support for the lock. For this purpose, the end of the tab 13 comprises a fold 13a which is welded to said bottom 2 of the liner. This fold 13a is shown in FIGS. 5, 6, 7 and 8. FIG. 1 shows, on the other hand, that the elongated element 12 is inclined with respect to the horizontal so that the zone for fixing the tab 13 is further away from the surface of the rear flank 4 which is intended to serve as a support for the lock is that in the case of Figure 1. This arrangement reduces further that the support surface of the lock is deformed in case side impact. Figures 5, 6, 7 and 8 further show that the folded tab 13 is shaped to have a damping function in the event of a side impact on the door. For this purpose, the tab 13 comprises at least one fold 14 extending in a direction substantially parallel to the bottom 2 of the liner 1 In this example, the fold 14 forms a shoulder located substantially in the middle of the lug 13. 25 This shoulder allows to initiate the folding of the tab 13 during a shock to damp it. FIG. 8 further shows that the space 15 situated between the tab 13 and the rear flank 4 is flared towards the outer skin 7, forming substantially a V. In the example represented (see FIG. 6) the elongated element 12 is reinforced by a plurality of ribs 16 parallel to the elongation direction of this element 12. In the version shown in FIGS. 4 to 8, the end 12b of the elongated element 12 opposite the folded tab 13 is fixed at the front flank 3 of the lining 1 substantially in the extension of its outer edge 3a, as shown in FIG. 8.
In a variant of the invention, the end of the elongated element 12 opposite the folded tab 13 is fixed to the bottom 2 of the liner in an area adjacent to the leading edge 3 by another folded tab (not shown) similar to said folded tab 13. Thus, the elongated element 12 of the stiffener can carry on each side a folded tab which is fixed to the bottom of the liner, being spaced from the flank 3, 4 corresponding. Each of these folded tabs could of course have a side impact damping function applied to the door. We will now explain with reference to Figure 8, the behavior of the is side door according to the invention in case of side impact. This lateral shock is symbolized by the arrows shown in Figure 8. This lateral shock F first deforms the outer skin 7 and the stiffener 11 which will be closer to the bottom 2 of the liner. The deformation of the stiffener 11 causes the deformation of the tab 13 which will bend around the fold 14. The folding of the tab 13 has the effect of damping the impact F. The deformation of the tab 13 does not affect the flank 4 since this tab 13 is free of any contact with the flank 4 of the liner. Thus, the flank 4 and thus the surface bearing the door lock is not likely to be deformed, so that the opening of this door is avoided. Figure 10 shows the deformation experienced by the door in particular in the area of the front flank 3 of the door, under the effect of a side impact. In this example, the stiffener is not attached to the bottom 2 of the liner by a folded tab, but its end adjacent to the sidewall 3 is attached directly to the outer edge of this sidewall.
7 As a result, the sidewall 3 undergoes a large deformation, but which does not risk causing the door to open, because the lock is not located on this sidewall 3. The invention thus solves the problem that This is the basis of the invention, in a simple and economical way, without adding an extra room to the door.
