Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a connector which can be used in a fluid transport circuit for connecting two elements of this circuit, such as pipes, or a pipe to an actuator, a distributor, a reservoir, BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION A connector generally comprises a tubular body delimiting a channel having a connecting section to a circuit element and a receiving section of a conduit end. Watertight securing means of the pipe end are mounted in the receiving section. These means comprise a hooking member, generally a radially deformable clamp or a washer having an inner ring divided into teeth, and a sealing element, generally an O-ring elastically deformable. When a pipe end is engaged in the receiving section, the sealing element is awarded between the body of the fitting and the periphery of the pipe end and the fastening member squeezes or bites the surface. outside of the driving end. In case of strong curvature of the pipe in the vicinity of the connection, the pipe end deforms transversely. This deformation results in an ovalization of the pipe end which has the main consequence of the loss of the continuity of the contact of the sealing element all around the periphery of the pipe end thus causing leaks.
In case of strong traction on the pipe in a direction of extraction thereof from the connection, the outer diameter of the pipe end tends to decrease to the point of removing any effectiveness to the fastening member. To obviate these disadvantages, it is known to dispose in the receiving section a tubular fur 2 extending opposite the fastening member and the sealing element to engage in the end. of conduct and support it. Known furs have in theory an outer diameter substantially equal to the inside diameter of the pipe end. However, it appears that, due to the manufacturing tolerances of both the fur and the pipe, this outer diameter is actually smaller than the inside diameter of the pipe, which reduces the effectiveness of the fur. One could have imagined using a fur having an outer diameter slightly greater than the inner diameter of the pipe end. Such an arrangement would make the connection difficult and disconnection, even desired, almost impossible. OBJECT OF THE INVENTION An object of the invention is to provide a means of making the connection of a pipe end to a connection more secure by preserving its ease of use. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION For this purpose, provision is made, according to the invention, a connector comprising a tubular body delimiting a channel having a receiving section of a pipe end, sealing means for securing, comprising a body of hooking of the pipe end and a sealing element, being mounted in the receiving section for sealing the pipe end therein, the receiving section comprising a tubular fillet extending at least considering a portion of the securing means for engaging and supporting the driving end. The fur is. - arranged to be radially expandable from a first state allowing the introduction of the fur 3 in the pipe end to a second state in which the fur is applied against an inner surface of the pipe end, - associated with means cams which are arranged to cause radial expansion when engaging the fur in the driving end. Thus, the fur in its first state does not interfere with the connection of the pipe and in its second state supports the pipe end by opposing its radial deformation. The introduction of fur in the driving end and ease and effectiveness of support provided by the fur is enhanced. The cam means facilitate the deformation of the pipe end leading to its radial expansion. According to a first embodiment, the fur has a first end intended to be engaged in the pipe end and a second end which comprises an outer abutment surface of the pipe end and a bearing surface against a radial shoulder. of the body opposing a sinking of the fur in the body, the helically extending bearing surface and a slit in a helix portion delimited by flanks extending between the first end and the second end of the fur in such a way that, when the pipe end is engaged in the body, the pipe end applies the abutment surface against the radial shoulder causing sliding of the sidewalls of the slot against each other. the other resulting in the radial expansion of the fur. The pipe end engaged on the fur abuts the abutment outer surface and applies the abutment surface against the radial shoulder of the body, causing the slit flanks to slide against each other and the radial expansion of the fur. According to a second embodiment, the fur comprises a longitudinal opening and an end which comprises an outer stop collar of the pipe end, and the cam means comprises a wedge received in the longitudinal opening and seen from the side of said end of the fur of a bearing end against an axial abutment of the body opposing a depression of the corner in the body. The pipe end engaged on the fur comes into abutment of the collar and causes the depression of the wedge in the opening and the radial expansion of the fur. Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge on reading the following description of particular nonlimiting embodiments of the invention. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Reference is made to the accompanying drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is an elevational view of a fur according to a first embodiment, the fur being in its inactive state, FIG. FIG. 3 is a partial view in longitudinal section of a fitting equipped with such a fur, the fur being in its active state, FIG. 4 is a view similar to FIG. 1 of a fur according to a variant of the first embodiment, FIG. 5 is an elevational view of a fur according to a second embodiment, the fur being in its inactive state, - Figure 6 is a view of this fur in section along line VI-VI of Figure 1, - Figure 7 is a partial longitudinal sectional view of a fitting equipped with such a fur, fur being in its active state, - Figure 8 is a view similar to FIG. 5 of a fur according to a variant of the second embodiment. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Referring to FIGS. 3 and 7, the connector comprises a tubular body, generally designated at 1, de-limiting a channel 2 having a section 3 for receiving a pipe end 100. the body is arranged to be connected to an element of the circuit and is for example threaded to be engaged in an end tapping of a channel of the circuit element; or the coupling may be intended for the union of two pipes, the channel of the fitting body having a section 3 at each of its ends. Section 3 comprises a recess in which are mounted sealing means for securing the pipe end 100. These means comprise a sealing member 4 held at the bottom of the recess by a ring 5 associated with an insert 6 force-fitted in the chamber 3 and trapping a washer 7 hooking. The washer 7 has a toothed inner circumference and is deformable between a state of rest in which the teeth delimit a passage section smaller than an outer diameter of the pipe end portion 100 and a deformed state in which the teeth delimit a passage section greater than an outer diameter of the pipe end portion 100. The insert 6 receives a sliding pusher 8 between a connection output position in which the nose of the pusher 8 is spaced from the teeth of the the washer 7 and a depressed disconnection position in which the nose of the pusher 8 raises the teeth of the washer 7 to 6 bring them into their deformed state. The pusher 8 in the extended position has, opposite the nose, a maneuvering end protruding from the body 2. A tubular fur 9 is mounted in the chamfer of the section 3 to extend facing the washer 7 and the sealing element 4. The fur 9 is made of metal and is deformable between a first state, said inactive, in which the fur 9 has an outside diameter at most equal to the inside diameter of the pipe end 100 and a second state, said active, in which the outer diameter of the fur 9 is greater than the inside diameter of the pipe end 100. The fur 9 has an end 9.1 arranged to be inserted into the pipe end 100 and , on the opposite side, an end 9.2 provided with a flange 13 projecting externally to form a stop at the penetration of the fur 9 in the pipe end 100. Referring to Figures 1 to 3 and according to the first embodiment realization of the inve The fur 9 has a slot 10, in a helical portion, which extends between the ends 9.1, 9.2 and which is delimited by flanks 11, 12 in contact with each other. The sidewalls 11, 12 have, in cross section, contours of complementary shapes allowing a sliding of one with respect to the other. The flank 11 thus has a V-shaped convex section while the flank 12 has a V-shaped concave section providing mutual longitudinal guidance of the flanks 11, 12. The end 9.2 has a bearing surface 14 against a shoulder radial 15 extending into the recess of section 3. The bearing surface 14 and the flange 13 extend helically. The portion of the bearing surface 14 and the flange portion 13 located on the side of the flange 12 extending in axial projection relative to the portion of the bearing surface 14 and the flange portion side of the flank 11. When introducing a pipe end 100 into a fitting, the fur 9 penetrates into the pipe end 100 until the end face thereof abuts against the flange 13 on the side of the flank 11. The insertion force continues, the pipe end 100 bearing on the flange 13 comes to press the bearing surface 14 against the radial shoulder 15 by driving the portion of glue - This side has the effect of deforming the fur 9: the flank 11 then slides against the flank 12 causing, by a cam effect resulting from the helical shape of the sidewall 12 , the radial expansion of the fur 9 to its active state. It will be noted that the flanks 11, 12 have a zone of lower slope for locally increasing the amplitude of the radial expansion relative to the axial displacement of the flanks 11, 12 relative to each other.
The teeth of the washer 7 penetrate the outer surface of the pipe end 100 so that the washer 7 holds the pipe end 100 in position. The disconnection is carried out conventionally by pressing the pusher 8 to lift the teeth of the pipe. the washer 7 and allow the withdrawal of the pipe end 100. The force exerted by the pipe end 100 on the flange 13 decreases allowing the deformation of the fur 9 to its inactive state.
Alternatively, as shown in FIG. 4, the flanks 11, 12 have notches 17, 16 which each comprise, for the catch 16, a ramp on the end side 9.1 and a vertical face on the end side 9.2 and, for the catch 16, a ramp on the side of the end 9.2 and a vertical face on the end side 9.1. The notches 16, 17 allow a relative displacement of the flanks 11, 12 relative to each other in the direction causing the radial expansion of the fur 9 but, by nesting into each other, s oppose the relative displacement of the flanks 11, 12 in the opposite direction. Referring to Figures 5 to 7 and according to the second embodiment, the fur 9 has an opening 20 which extends between the ends 9.1, 9.2 and which is delimited by sidewalls 21, 22 converging towards the end 9.1. A wedge 23 is received in the opening 20 and has a narrow end 23. 1 on the side of the end 9.1 of the fur 9 and a wide end 23.2 on the side of the end 9.2. The wedge 23 is movable between a retracted position in which protrudes beyond the end 9.2 of the fur 9, the fur being in its inactive state, and a recessed position in which the wide end 23.2 is flush with the end 9.2 and the wedge 23 brought the fur into its active state. The wedge 23 has sidewalls 24, 25 which, like the sidewalls 11, 12, have, in cross-section, contours of complementary shapes allowing sliding with respect to each other. The flanks 24, 25 thus have a V-shaped convex section while the flanks 21, 22 have a V-shaped concave section providing mutual longitudinal guidance of the flanks 21, 24 and the flanks 22, 25. The wide end 23.2 bears against a radial shoulder 15 extending in the recess of the section 3. When introducing a pipe end 100 into a coupling, the fur 9 penetrates into the pipe end 100 until the end face thereof abuts the collar 13. 9 The insertion force continues, the pipe end 100 bearing on the collar 13 causes the fur 9 to move relative to the corner 23 which bears against the radial shoulder 15 and which spreads the sides 21, 22 as it penetrates the opening 20 of the fur 9. The disconnection is performed as before. Alternatively, as shown in FIG. 8, the flanks 21, 22 and 24, 25 have notches 26, 27 respectively which each comprise, for the catch 27, a ramp on the end side 9.1 and a vertical face on the side. from the end 9.2 and, for the catch 26, a ramp on the end side 9.2 and a vertical face on the end side 9.1. The notches 26, 27 allow relative movement of the fur 9 and the wedge 23 relative to each other in the direction provo-as the radial expansion of the fur 9 but, by fitting into each other. others, oppose the relative movement of the fur 9 and the corner 23 in the opposite direction. Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described, but encompasses any variant falling within the scope of the invention as defined by the claims.
In particular, the fur may have in its first state, said inactive, an outside diameter less than the inside diameter of the pipe end 100 and in its second state, said active, an outside diameter at least equal to the inside diameter of the pipe end 100. The fur and the corner may be connected to each other by flexible sectors so as to form a single piece.
