Clip for holding cables or bundles, especially on the body or body of a motor vehicle.
The present invention relates to a clip for supporting and immobilizing a cable or bundle of cables, comprising a first part for holding this tightly held cable inside thereof, and a second positioning part of the clip vis-à-vis a carrier element, consisting of a foot forcefully engaged in a receiving bore of this element and trapped inside this bore. Motor vehicles are equipped with multiple cables or bundles of electrical wires connecting various devices necessary for the implementation of functions of any nature essential to the proper operation of the vehicle. These cables or bundles extend along different paths in the box or against the internal surface of the vehicle body, and are immobilized in appropriate places by holding clips, which can be either fixed beforehand on the beam during the preparation thereof in the workshop, the assembly then being, once completed, fixed on the body in the holes or similar arrangements provided on the support structure, or conversely, after these staples have been previously put in place on this structure, are arranged inside these successive clips, which are finally closed on these cables, this second technique being called line edge mounting. The manufacturing tolerances between the successive staples, their positioning positions along the length of the bundle and the distribution of the fastening points on the support structure lead to dimensional variations which sometimes make it difficult to obtain a satisfactory alignment of all the staples of interest. a given beam because of their high number, the first aforementioned mounting solution, with prior positioning of the staples, being difficult to implement satisfactorily. Under these conditions, the second solution is generally preferred, the foot of the staple being first placed in the support structure inside its receiving bore, before, in a separate operation, the beam does not is fixed in turn on the successive staples and put in place. However, in this case, the known staples are not perfectly adapted or lead to relatively complex embodiments, as illustrated in particular in the French patents FR 2 402 794 and 2 599 460, the German patent DE 33 40 537 and the US patent The present invention relates to a staple adapted to favor the assembly of the beam according to the technique known as line edge, which is simple to implement, easy to implement and which ensures a secure immobilization of the beam on this staple when it is put in place on its support structure, the assembly requiring only one operation instead of two with a conventional staple. For this purpose, the staple considered, comprising a head adapted to grip the cable or the beam to hold it in place therein, and a foot connected to the head and adapted to be engaged and immobilized in a receiving bore or analogous to a support structure, is characterized in that the head is formed of two open arches, joined at one common end by a hinge connection zone, allowing spacing and mutual reconciliation of these arches for the implementation. place of the cable and its clamping between them, and in that the foot, of generally cylindrical shape, is split diametrically to form two identical elements, respectively secured to the other end of each of the two arches, these two elements of the foot being adapted to be contiguous in a median diametral plane when the two arches are brought closer to each other so that they can be engaged together in the receiving piercing so as to be immobilized insert the clip.
According to another characteristic of the staple considered, the two arches of the head and the two elements of the foot are made of the same plastic material, the hinge zone between the arches, made at their common end, being obtained by welding in end of these arches. Preferably, the two elements of the foot and the two arches of the head with the hinge zone between these arches, came from manufacture by simultaneous molding.
Advantageously, the two arches each comprise a flexible tongue, secured to the arch at its end disposed near its connection with the elements of the foot, the opposite end of the tongue being free to ensure the tightening of the cable held between the two arches. According to another characteristic, the connection between the head and the foot comprises a support flange of the clip against the support structure. Also preferably, the foot has protruding outer circular ribs, for anchoring and holding the clip to the support structure, within the receiving bore of this foot. Other characteristics of a holding clip for a cable or a beam, established in accordance with the invention, will become apparent from the following description of an exemplary embodiment, given by way of non-limiting indication, with reference to FIG. attached drawing on which. - Figure 1 is a perspective view of a support structure of a cable held in place by staples according to the invention, distributed along the length of this cable. - Figure 2 is a sectional view, on a larger scale, illustrating the staple considered in an open position, before mounting the cable inside this clip. 3 also illustrates, in section, the cable mounted inside the clip of FIG. 2, this clip being fastened to the support structure of FIG. 1. In FIG. cable or, as the case may be, a bundle of single cables assembled together, to be immobilized and held in place against a support structure 2, this latter being able in particular to be a bodywork element or any other appropriate part of the body of a motor vehicle , this cable or cable harness 1 being in particular provided for conveying electrical control or control information between devices necessary for the use of this vehicle. As already stated, the introduction and the immobilization of this cable 1 on the support structure 2 is here carried out by means of a plurality of staples 3 according to the invention, the design of these staples being such that it allows to mount them in succession on the cable along the length thereof, exactly opposite, for each of them, a receiving hole 4 formed in the structure 2 (see Figure 3). In particular, the staples 3 are arranged such that, during assembly of the cable on its support structure, each of these staples can be, in a single and continuous operation, first put in place on the cable in one place determined by its length, to the right of a bore for receiving it, then introduced into it and immobilized, keeping the cable in position. As illustrated in the various figures and more particularly in Figure 2 which represents the clip before the cable is introduced into it and in Figure 3, once this introduction is performed, the clip being fixed on its support structure 2, we see that this clip mainly comprises a head 5, adapted to grip the cable, and a foot 6, connected to the head and allowing its attachment to the support. The head 5 of the staple comprises two symmetrical arches 7 and 8, of generally semicircular shape, joined at one end common to these two arches by a connecting zone 9, constituting a hinge, allowing the spacing and then the mutual reconciliation of these arches, as illustrated respectively in Figures 2 and 3.
The two hoops 7 and 8 are connected, at their ends opposite to the connection zone 9, to the foot 6, which comprises two identical elements 10 and 11, this generally cylindrical foot being divided by a diametrical plane to form these two elements that deviate from each other with the hoops 7 and 8, before approaching and bonding to each other along the diametrical plane 12, as shown in FIG. Preferably, the staples 3 are made of a suitable plastic material, insulating and flexible, the two parts of each staple, respectively formed by one of the arches 7 or 8 of the head 5 and an element 10 or 11 of the foot 6, having come from manufacturing, in particular by molding of this plastic material, making it possible to produce at the same time the connecting zone 9 forming a hinge. Alternatively, the latter could be obtained by welding the corresponding ends of the two arches. The two parts of the clip 3, namely the head 5 and the foot 6, comprise in their mutual connection zone, a circular support flange 13 whose end 14 is properly narrowed and bent in the direction of the foot, so as to come to bear against the upper face of the support structure 2 when the clip is put in place thereon. The two elements 10 and 11 which form the cylindrical foot once contiguous, also comprise a set of external circular ribs 15, these ribs being inversely upwardly inflected so that, once the foot 6 is introduced into its receiving drilling 4 of the support structure 2, to ensure the blocking of the foot vis-à-vis the latter, the rib 15 which is flush with the inner face of this structure and is applied against it, exerting an upward force against the antagonistic one, produced by the narrowed end 14 of the flange 13 applied against the opposite face. The clip 3 finally comprises, in the vicinity of the end of each of the two arches 7 and 8 of the head 5, above the support flange 13, two flexible tabs 16 and 17 respectively connected to each of these hoops at one end, the opposite end of each tongue, adjacent the hinge connecting zone 9, being free. As seen in Figure 3, these tabs 16 and 17 ensure the clamping and immobilization of the cable 1 when it is placed between the two arches 7 and 8, once the latter brought together one of the other, so that the elements 10 and 11 of the foot are also contiguous in their diametral plane 12 and introduced into the receiving hole 4 of the structure 2.
A split foot clip is thus produced, of very simple design, which allows the cable to be mounted according to the so-called edge-of-line technique, with a single operation consisting, on the one hand, in engaging the cable at the desired point in the line. interior of the clip between its two arches, before the two elements of the foot are brought together and contiguous, and finally arranged in the receiving housing which is dedicated thereto, the cable being firmly held between the two arches by the flexible tongues which grip it with a pressure even higher than the diameter of the cable is greater, providing improved holding of as much of the clip itself vis-à-vis the support structure. Of course, it goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the embodiment more specifically described above and shown with reference to the accompanying drawings; on the contrary, it embraces all variants. It may be noted in particular that no limitation concerns the outer profile of the cable, which may be cylindrical or polygonal, or may have a more complex contour, especially when it is constituted by a bundle comprising several individual cables contiguous. In addition, no restriction is to be made in relation to the thickness of the support structure which is generally constituted by a flat metal sheet or of shape, nor in relation to the diameter of the reception bores receiving and immobilizing the feet of successive staples.15
