Abstract
Description
L'invention concerne un produit appétent destiné à servir commeThe invention relates to an appetite product for use as a
10 15 5 15 20 25 medicament, food supplement or as palatable support for coating an active substance intended for an animal, in particular cats and dogs, as well as processes making it possible to manufacture and use said product. The administration to animals of active substances orally, especially drugs, is often difficult because of the bad taste of some of these substances and the highly developed sense of smell and taste of these animals. In case of refusal of absorption, the chances of success of the veterinary treatment can drop dramatically. There is therefore a need for a packaging of active substances able to thwart the vigilance of animals, especially cats and dogs. EP 1 562 549 discloses an appetite carrier for an active substance intended for an animal, in particular for a medicament. The matrix of said support comprises at least one sufficiently adhesive tacky surface for fixing the active substance by simple contact of the active substance with the tacky surface. It is suggested to use a neutral matrix, i.e. having substantially no taste, so that the same matrix can be used for different types of animals. However, no embodiment of such a support is described. The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of Astrocaryum Vulgare extracts are known whether in the form of oil or unsaponifiable fractions, but it is often difficult to ingest such extracts to animals. The chondroprotective properties of chondroitin, whether or not associated with glucosamine, are known. There is therefore a need for an appetite product, which can be used as a medicament or a dietary supplement for wrapping an active substance, and suitable for dogs and cats, having all of these products so that they are readily present. individually or in combination, an anti-inflammatory and / or antioxidant activity. The object of the present invention is to provide such a product. According to the invention, this object is achieved by means of an appetite product intended to serve as a medicament or to coat, at least partially, an active substance that is initially independent of the product, which is remarkable in that it comprises in percentages by mass, based on the total mass of the product. At least 1%, preferably at least 5%, more preferably at least 8% of Astrocaryum Vulgare oil, 3% to 50% of glucose syrup, the dextrose equivalent (DE) of the syrup with glucose being between 5 and 60, preferably between 5 and 40 and preferably between 5 and 15, and preferably at least 2%, preferably at least 4%, preferably at least 5%, rice starch, preferably hydrolyzed. Preferably at least 2%, preferably at least 10%, preferably at least 20% of chondroitin and / or glucosamine chondroprotectors. Preferably, the mass percentage of said rice starch is less than 20%, preferably less than 10%, more preferably less than 7%. Preferably, the amount of oil is less than 50%, preferably less than 40%, preferably less than 30%, preferably less than 20%, more preferably less than 10%, in percentages by weight on the total basis. of the product. An amount of oil of between 7 and 9%, preferably about 8%, is considered optimal. By initially independent active substance, it is to be understood that the product as manufactured does not contain the active substance. Active substance means any substance, other than Astrocaryum Vulgare, chondroitin and / or glucosamine oil, which may have a care effect, in the medical and / or cosmetic and / or food sense, prepared for example in the form of tablets, lozenges, capsules, pills, or powders. As will be seen in more detail in the following description, a product appetent according to the invention is well accepted by dogs and cats and, simultaneously, advantageously has an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect. In addition, the presence of the rice starch makes the product sticky. Advantageously, the active substance adheres to it effectively. In combination with glucose syrup, rice starch makes it possible to form a homogeneous, pasty and sticky product, effective for ingesting active substances, both by cats and by dogs. Unless otherwise indicated, all percentages are mass percentages, based on the total mass of the product. Preferably, the product still has one or more of the following optional characteristics: 1) The product comprises a humectant, chosen from alcohols or a mixture thereof, preferably from propylene glycol, glycerol, sorbitol or a mixture of these. An amount of a mixture of propylene glycol and glycerol greater than or equal to 3% and / or less than or equal to 15% is preferable, the amount of propylene glycol preferably being greater than or equal to 3%, preferably 5%, and and / or less than or equal to 15%, preferably 10%, the amount of glycerol being preferably greater than or equal to 5%, preferably greater than or equal to 9%, and / or less than or equal to 20%, preferably greater than 15%. . An amount of sorbitol greater than or equal to 3%, preferably 5%, and / or less than or equal to 15%, preferably 10%, is also preferable. More preferably, the product comprises an amount of lecithin greater than or equal to 1%, preferably 3%, and / or less than or equal to 15%, preferably 8%. Advantageously, these characteristics make it possible to obtain a water activity (Aw) of the product of less than 0.75 and a shelf life of up to about 18 months. The product comprises a quantity of proteins of animal origin, preferably chosen from the group formed by flours of poultry, pork, fish and their mixtures, preferably greater than or equal to 5%, preferably 30%; and / or less than or equal to 90%, preferably 50%. The product comprises a quantity of modified starch, preferably modified rice starch, preferably AXFGP (AX Finest Grade Precuit) marketed by REMY D Industries (Belgium), which is pre-hydrolysed rice starch, preferably greater than or equal to 4%, andlor less than or equal to 90%, preferably 50%, more preferably 20%. - The rice starch is cooked. Preferably it contains more than 90% by weight, preferably more than 95% by weight of amylopectin. Preferably, the rice starch is waxy, i.e. substantially only contains amylopectin. By comparison, a regular starch contains only about 80% amylopectin. Advantageously, the high amylopectin content confers a very sticky character to the product and makes it possible to limit its glucose content. The product comprises preservatives, preferably consisting of BHA (butylated hydroxylisole) and / or propyl galate and / or citric acid and / or lactic acid and / or propenoic acid and / or sorbic acid and / or Phosphoric acid. A total amount of preservatives greater than or equal to 0.01% and / or less than or equal to 10%, preferably 3% is preferred. Preferred preservatives are selected from Thermox ™, Pet SAVOR, sorbate or a mixture thereof. An amount of Thermox ™ greater than or equal to 0.01% and / or less than or equal to 2%, preferably 1% is desirable. An amount of Pet Savor greater than or equal to 0.5%, preferably 0.7%, and / or less than 5%, preferably 2%, is also desirable. An amount of sorbate, preferably potassium sorbate, greater than or equal to (0.1%, preferably 0.1%, and / or less than 5%, preferably 1.5%, is still desirable. amount of an appetence enhancer, preferably specific to the type of animal for which the product is intended and selected from Superpremium type products, preferably based on porcine liver, more preferably the 8P enhancers for dogs and 9P or 9M for cats marketed with SDF Diana, greater than or equal to 1%, preferably 2% and / or less than or equal to 15%, preferably greater than 10%, preferably less than 5% - The mass percentage of the syrup of glucose is greater than 5% and / or less than 20%, preferably less than 15%, more preferably less than 10%, even less than 7%, or even 6.5% 2915061 s -The equivalent dextrose (DE) glucose syrup is greater than 10, preferably this greater than 15, preferably even 18 and / or less than 25, preferably less than 22. When the product appetent according to the invention is a drug, it can be conformed in any form, and especially in the form of pills , tablets, tablet capsules or powders. The invention also relates to a method for producing an appetite product for relieving the animal at the muscular articular level or facilitating the ingestion, by an animal, of an active substance, this method comprising a step in which one mixes different constituents and being remarkable in that said constituents and their amounts are determined so as to obtain a product according to the invention. The invention also relates to a method for packaging an active substance in a support, said active substance being initially independent of said support and preferably in the form of a pill, tablet, capsule, tablet or powder, in which The user at least partially coats said active substance in said support, this process is remarkable in that the support is a product according to the invention. The invention finally relates to a method for combating osteoarthritis, joint inflammations and inflammatory phenomena more generally: in this respect it has been possible to note an activity of Astrocaryum Vulgare oil with respect to hypertrophy. Prostate: Abdominal ultrasounds in dogs with benign prostatic hypertrophy showed in 100% of cases a 30% decrease in the overall size of the prostate. Other features and advantages of the present invention will appear on reading the following description and on examining the appended drawing in which: 2) FIG. 1 represents a cross-sectional view of a product according to the invention 3) Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view of the product shown in Fig. 1 after coating a tablet with the product. In the various figures, identical references have been used to designate identical or similar objects. 10 15 5 15 20 25
The product 1 is supplied in the form of a substantially homogeneous cube that the user tears in two pieces 20 and 22. In FIG. 1 the product 1 is represented in an intermediate state between its substantially cubic initial state and its torn state. two pieces 20 and 22. The matrix 3 comprises, in this intermediate state, two ends 23 and 23 'connected by a common base 23. The matrix 3, once torn, exposes a contact surface 27 formed of the surfaces 29 and 28 of the 20 and 22, respectively, delimiting the tear Advantageously, the appetence enhancer layer 5 and the solid shape of the cube protect the matrix 3 from drying out, thus increasing the life of the product. Preferably, a material with plastic deformation, that is to say, it substantially retains the shape that is given to it, The matrix composition 3 is as described above. product 1 is as follows, with mass percentage, based on the total mass of the product: between 17% and 42% of animal proteins between 5% and 25%, chondroprotecteurs which can be chondroitin, glucosamine or a mixture of two. between 4% and 5% of a palatability enhancer, preferably Superpremium type marketed by SDF Diana, preferably about 4.5%; between 5.2% and 6.3% of hydrolysed rice starch, preferably of the type AXFGP, preferably about 5.8%; between 0% and 1% sodium chloride, preferably about 0.5%; between 0.01% and 1% sorbate, preferably about 0.6%; between 0.01% and 0.1% of ThermoxTM, preferably about 0.07%; between 7% and 12% glycerol, preferably about 7.9%; between 7% and 8% propylene glycol or sorbitol, preferably about 7.6%; 10 15 20 25 2915061 -7
Surprisingly, this matrix is well accepted by both dogs and cats. It is plastic and has a tacky character that allows an aggregation of the pieces 20 and 22 by simply pressing the hand. The stickiness allows the attachment of the tablet 9. The palatability enhancer, preferably SuperpremiumTM, may be present on the surface of the matrix 3 in the form of a layer 5 or be contained directly within the matrix 3 A preferred process for producing a product according to the invention comprises the following steps: a) mixing the constituents in the form of powders, in particular glucose syrup when it is in the form of powder (if it is in liquid form it will then be incorporated in step b), and / or proteins of animal origin and / or starch and / or sorbate and / or ThermoxTM and / or salt, so as to obtain a homogeneous powder, b) mixing the liquid and / or pasty compounds, in particular a humectant and / or fat, and / or a preservative and / or lecithin and / or water, with said homogeneous powder; cold, under conditions well known to the man of the a machine to facilitate the passage through a machine, followed by an extrusion still cold, in particular by means of a single-screw extruder of the pasta or pusher type, so as to obtain a die,
There are in the latter case areas of the matrix not covered by the enhancer so as to allow handling of the product without contact of the fingers with the flavor enhancer. The latter can indeed release an unpleasant smell for the man. The product obtained can then be packaged, preferably in the form of individually wrapped cubes, to limit their drying and facilitate their handling. The product covered with the appetence enhancer may be previously slit, drilled, or grooved so as to predefine the future contact surfaces with the active substance. The palatability enhancer used in step d) is preferably specific to the animal for which the product is intended. However, according to the invention, in steps a) and b), a proportion of between 3% and 50% of glucose syrup with a DE of between 5 and 60 is chosen, so as to obtain at the end of step c) a matrix suitable for both cats and dogs. The production costs are advantageously reduced. The palatability enhancer may be introduced during steps a) or / and b), all the other constituents being accepted by cats and dogs, the manufacturing costs remain advantageously reduced. It will also be noted that the process for manufacturing the product according to the invention makes it possible to dispense with any cooking step during manufacture. Preferably, the manufacturing method according to the invention does not contain a cooking step between steps a) and d) included. The various steps and the order in which they are described are provided by way of illustrative and non-limiting example. In particular, it can be imagined that steps a) and b) are reversed. Similarly one can very well imagine that the appetite enhancer is introduced within the matrix during one of the steps a) or b). To condition a tablet 9 by means of a product 1 according to the invention such as that shown in FIG. 1, a user can proceed as follows. The user rips the product 1 into two pieces 20 and 22. By opening the die, the user exposes the surfaces 28 and 29. He then positions the tablet 9 on one of the surfaces 28 and 29, and disposes the pieces 20 and 22 of the product 1 torn so that the surfaces 28 and 29 are substantially opposite each other. It then exerts an action so as to press one against the other these pieces so as to aggregate them. It is also possible to deform the die by hand to increase the contact area between the tablet 9 and the contact surfaces 28 and 29. Preferably, the contact surface substantially covers the entire outer surface of the tablet 9 so as to encompass this last. The surfaces 28 and 29 of the product according to the invention are such that after they have been pressed against each other, they no longer detach themselves spontaneously from one another. By spontaneous means under the sole effect of the elasticity of the matrix, that is to say without intervention of the user. Preferably, the tear is sufficiently wide to allow the complete insertion of the tablet 9. Advantageously, the product according to the invention thus allows to encapsulate, to coat or to completely encompass the tablet 9 after reconstitution of the initial cube. No repulsive odor or no unpleasant taste can no longer be released from the tablet 9 inserted in the product 1. As it is clear, the packaging of an active substance by means of a process according to the invention is very simple and can be implemented extemporaneously, individually, by the individual himself. It does not require any equipment. Advantageously, the same packaging method and the same products 1 can be used for active substances of very different shapes. Advantageously, the user can package several active substances, possibly in different forms (capsule, tablet, tablet, powder, etc.) using the same product 1. The effectiveness of a product according to the invention to outsmart the animals has been tested for dogs and cats. The products tested have the following composition: between 37% and 38% of poultry meal; about 4.5% Superpremium palatability enhancer; about 5.2% of AXFGP; about 0.5% sodium chloride; about 0.62% sorbate; 10 15 20 25 -10-
20 3. 4. 5. 6. about 0.07% ThermoxTM; about 7.9% glycerol; about 7.67 A, propylene glycol; 5.7% to 5.85% glucose syrup with a dextrose equivalent (D.E) of 20; about 7.11% of Astrocaryum Vulgare oil; about 1.24% of Pet SAVOR; about 5.76% of soy lecithin; about 10.8% water. The palatability enhancer is not only included in the powder mixture but also deposited on the outside of the matrix 3 so as to form a layer 5 around the product. The product is then non-sticky, including after tearing into several pieces. In addition, the periphery of the product is particularly palatable, which is particularly advantageous when the animal sniffs the product. The animal is presented twice a day for 5 days with a tablet coated in the product. At each dose, the animal can either eat neither the product nor the tablet, or eat the product but spit out the tablet, or eat the product and the tablet. Subsequently, the failures of the product represent the percentage of cases where the product is eaten but the tablet spit out in a similar way. Efficiency is the percentage of cases where the product and the tablet are eaten. The results of the tests are summarized in Table 1 below: TABLE 1% for a cat Product failures 5% 9.5% Efficiency 95% 80% As can be seen, the invention provides a very effective product for dogs and cats. Advantageously, this product may be as a medicament or as a carrier for an initially independent active substance having a joint activity with that of the Astrocaryum Vulagare oil in association or otherwise with chondroprotectors such as chondroitin and / or glucosamine. Naturally, the present invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown provided by way of illustrative and non-limiting example. In particular, the shape and size of the matrix, the presence and the nature of the palatability enhancer, the presence of a slot, a groove, an incision, a hole, or a bleeding are optional. In addition, the preferred characteristics mentioned above in the context of the description of the figures or the tests, in which the product according to the invention is used as a support, are also preferred when the product according to the invention is used as a medicament or a dietary supplement. anti-inflammatory, without being associated with an initially independent active substance. 20 3. 4. 5. 6.
