Abstract

The hosiery articles, especially long or short socks, are knitted on a traditional hosiery loom with a gauge of under 30 and employing a basic yarn with a volume greater than Nm 1/150. The basic yarn is semisynthetic in nature, containing cellulose and rayon fibres having a standard elongation of at least 100 and preferably 150 per cent and containing at least 50 per cent absorbent fibres. The sole (6) of the socks have an additional reinforcing yarn with absorbent properties at least equal to those of the basic yarn, added by means of electronic embroidery.
