Abstract
The partition (1) according to the invention is a non-load-bearing interior partition of type "A" for a ship meeting the fire resistance conditions of the international regulations for protection against fires on board ships, it is characterized in that that it is made up of several metal sheet panels (2) with a thickness less than or equal to 15 / 10th of a mm that can be nested into each other. The construction of interlocking sheet metal panels (2) ensures the rigidity of the assembly, since the interlocking lines act as a stiffener. The interlocking lines combined with a sheet of thickness less than or equal to 15 / 10th of a mm resist fire long enough to meet said standards, contrary to what a person skilled in the art might think. Indeed, if the fire deforms the panels whose thickness is less than that usually used, the interlocking ensures the necessary rigidity at the temperatures reached.
Description
La présente invention concerne les cloisons internes non porteuses pourThe present invention relates to non-load bearing internal partitions for
A" class divisions, as defined by the 1974 International Convention for the Protection of Life
These bulkheads must meet stiffness, fire integrity and flame and smoke tightness conditions.
The integrity of fire separations is the ability of the construction to isolate and protect an area from the effects of a fire in an adjacent area while having a separation function during the fire. Chapter II-2 of the SOLAS Convention incorporates these provisions and gives a definition of type A divisions. Resolution A.754 (18), adopted on 4 November 1993 by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), sets out the recommendations on fire resistance tests for type A, B and F divisions. According to these recommendations, type A bulkheads made of steel sheet are 4.5 0.5 mm thick.
OMI Circular 1005 of 8 June 2001 provides a uniform interpretation of Chapter II-2 of the SOLAS Convention with particular reference to Rules 3.3.1 (Steel or equivalent) and 3.3.2 (Rigidity) by allowing the use of so-called bulkheads. lightweight (honeycomb type, etc.) of steel or equivalent.
However, today this type of wall is still made of sheet steel 4mm thick with stiffeners arranged regularly, thus meeting the rules 3.3.1 and 3.3.2, their thickness and uniformity allows them to withstand fire (flame and smoke tightness) under the conditions imposed by the said regulations. However, the partitions thus produced lead to a significant weight of metal structure and impose mounting constraints on the vessel because of their size and weight. Indeed, these partitions are put in place from the pre-assembly phase, that is to say they are mounted at the same time as the load-bearing partitions constituting the structure of the ship. On the other hand, the cost generated by their use is important given the amount of material used.
There are lightweight partitions used for the construction of prefabricated cabins and consist of a pressed sheet metal panel having a slightly recessed face in which there is a mineral wool type glass wool or rock wool. This wool is used for thermal and sound insulation of the wall. But these partitions are of type B according to the standard of the SOLAS regulation against fires. Type B partitions only withstand 30 minutes fire, while Type A barriers must withstand flames and smoke for 60 minutes and are not necessarily smoke-tight like Type A partitions. The present invention is to provide a partition solution that is both inexpensive, lightweight, easy to mount and meets the SOLAS fire convention.
The partition according to the invention is an "A" type non-load-bearing interior partition for a ship that meets the requirements of the international regulations for fire resistance, it is characterized in that it is composed of several metal sheet panels. thickness less than or equal to 15 / 10th of a millimeter nestable into each other. The construction of interlocking plate panels makes it possible to guarantee the rigidity of the assembly, since the interlocking lines act as a stiffener. The interlocking lines combined with a sheet of thickness less than or equal to 15 / 10th of a mm fire resistant long enough to meet the said standards contrary to what could be thought by those skilled in the art. Indeed, if the fire deforms the panels whose thickness is less than the one usually used, the interlockings make it possible to ensure the necessary rigidity at the temperatures reached and thus to continue to ensure the tightness to flames and fumes. In addition, a construction based on different panels allows a realization directly on board the ship instead of the pre-assembly phase. The fact of having less mounting constraints allows a better coordination of the assembly and arming of the ship.
According to a particular arrangement, the sheet panels are nested one inside the other by male / female side folds. The panels are mechanically interconnected by riveting, welding, cleaving, screwing or other known means. The male / female sockets allow to obtain a greater rigidity. On the other hand the male / female form is particularly well adapted to prevent fumes from passing between the panels without requiring a seal.
According to a third characteristic, the panel sheet is a steel sheet approximately 7/10 mm thick. This thickness corresponds to the standard thickness (without mineral wool) of the panels usually used in boats not subject to the type A classification of the SOLAS regulation but to that of type B. According to a first arrangement, the junction sheet metal panels with a structural wall of the ship is made by an L-shaped section fixed to said wall. The partition is mechanically fixed to the profile in a known and regular manner. The structural wall considered may be either a load-bearing partition or an upper or lower deck plate.
According to a second provision, the junction of the sheet metal panels with the structural wall of the ship is made by a U-shaped section attached to said wall. The U-profile is used to fix the partition to the structural wall by inserting an edge of the partition into the U-profile which is mechanically fixed in a regular manner and in a known manner to the U-shaped profile. According to a particular characteristic, the profile is connected to the structural wall by a noncombustible joint. To resist fire and to act as a smoke barrier, the connections are made with incombustible joints.
According to a second particular characteristic, the profile is connected to the structural wall by an intumescent gasket. The swelling of the heat seal ensures the tightness to flames and smoke.
According to one particular characteristic, the profiles are welded to the structural wall of the ship. The profiles are spot welded evenly on the structural walls, ie the supporting partitions or the upper or lower deck plates.
According to an advantageous arrangement, the partition forms the ceiling of a room made from sheet metal panels. Indeed, thanks to the interlocking the ceiling is self-supporting and the junction between the non-supporting side walls and the partition constituting the ceiling is achieved by means of a U-shaped section with outer wing: the upper edge of the partition is inserted into the U-shape and the outer flange of the U is mechanically fixed in a known manner at the edge of the partition forming the ceiling to enhance the overall rigidity. The junction between the non-loadbearing bulkheads and the partition forming the ceiling may also be achieved by means of an L-shaped section. The invention will be better understood on reading the following description given solely by way of example. and made with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: - Figure 1 is a top view in section of a partition according to the invention - Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view along II-II of a partition according to the invention is located on a bridge plate, - Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view along the axis III-III of a partition according to the invention located between two bridges, - Figures 4a, 4b, 4c and 4d represent different types of panels, - Figures 5a, 5b and 5c show the different types of profiles used.
The partition 1 according to the invention shown in FIG. 1 consists of several sheet metal panels (or sheet metal) 2 nested within each other by male / female connections 21. Each panel 10 has a male lateral edge 20 and a female side edge 21. The male edge 20 is formed by a first recess 200 at right angles to the panel 2 and a second recess 201 at right angles to the first recess 200. The female edge 21 consists of a first recess 210 at right angles to the surface of the panel 2 and a fold-shaped wallet 211 which cooperates with the second setback 201 of the male part 20.
As seen in Figure 1 the panel 2 is fixed to the wall 3 of the ship by a profile 4 L, this profile 4 is fixed to the panel 2 by a known mechanical fastening means 40 such as a rivet, points welding, screws, etc ... A seal 41 is disposed between the profile 4 and the wall 3. The panels 2 attached to the wall 3 and visible in Figure 1, are of particular shape, indeed the shape has been slightly adapted so that the male or female portions 21 do not have elements protruding from the panel 2, so as to ensure the contact of the wall 3 with the recesses 200 or 210 and thus ensure better fixing of the 'together.
The angles of the partitions 1 are made by bent panels 22 of the same construction as the flat panels 2 which were then bent at the desired angle. According to a variant not shown angles can also be made by an L-shaped section such as the profile 4.
FIG. 2 represents a vertical section, along II-II, of a partition 1 placed on a lower deck plate 5a of the ship and forming a box-type space whose height is less than the height between the bridges 5a and 5b. The panels 2 are nested in the same manner as previously described for FIG. 1. The ceiling is fixed by means of U-shaped sections 7 with a flange 70 bent towards the outside of the U. The profile 7 is placed as follows the U-profile 7 is inserted on the panel 2 constituting the wall and mechanically fixed in a known manner by a fastener 71, and then the male part 201 is fixed to the flange 70, or the part 70 is slid into the female part 211 and set all in a known manner.
In FIG. 3, the partition 1 is arranged between two bridges 5a and 5b, the lower part of the partition 1 is fixed to the sheet 5a constituting the bridge by a U-shaped section 6. The profile 6 is mechanically fixed to the sheet 5a by spot welding, gluing or other known means. The panel 2 is then fixed on the profile 6 by screwing for example. The upper part of the partition 2 is fixed to the upper bridge plate 5b as previously described for FIG.
Figures 4 show the different types of panels 2: - Figure 4a is a standard panel 2 with the male part 20 facing outwards and the female part 21 also; FIG. 4b is a non-standard panel 2 derived from the tandard panel 2 of FIG. 4a and whose part 201 parallel to the panel 2 on the male side is not modified and the portion 211 on the female side is cut so as not to exceed the edge of the panel 2; - Figure 4c is a non-standard panel 2 derived from the standard panel 2 of Figure 4a, the male portion 20 is turned inwardly; Figure 4d is a non-standard panel 2 derived from the standard panel 2 of Figure 4a which has been bent at the desired angle.
