Description

DEVICE FOR HANGING A MASK ON A HELMET
The invention relates to a device for attaching a mask, in particular a respiratory mask, to a protective helmet. Such a helmet traditionally comprises a rigid shell, possibly provided with a folding eye protection visor. Such a helmet is intended more particularly, although not exclusively, for firefighters, the military, law enforcement officers, civil protection ... and in general, any person likely to use a mask breathing simultaneously with a helmet.
It is well known to provide systems for attaching a respiratory mask to a helmet. These traditionally consist of flexible or rigid straps, secured to the mask at a mooring notch formed outside the shell constituting the helmet, by means of a hook secured to one end of said strips. The method of attaching the mask to the helmet is decisive insofar as it is intended to make it possible to obtain sealing on the face, and more particularly on the nose and mouth. Among the existing attachment systems, the tension of the attachment means making it possible to achieve this tightness is imparted by a spring connecting together two tubular elements mounted sliding one inside the other, and respectively secured to the mask and to the fixing hooks on the helmet (see for example EP-A-0 105 813). However, this attachment system does not allow the mask to be optimally adapted to the face of all individuals. Indeed, large faces induce excessive tension, materializing by marking the edge of the mask on the face of the user generating discomfort and pain. For small faces, this tension is not sufficient, resulting in an unacceptable sealing defect.
The object of the present invention is to overcome these drawbacks and in particular to allow better adaptability of the tension of such attachment devices to all possible configurations to the morphology of the head, and in particular of the face of the user.
To this end, the device for attaching a mask to a helmet in accordance with the invention consists of: - two flexible straps, secured on either side of the mask, and provided on one of their main faces directed towards the outside of a rack, - of a carriage, capable of translating on said strips, and provided with a hook intended to be hooked on a mooring notch provided for this purpose on the hull of the helmet, said carriage being provided with a locking member cooperating with the rack.
In other words, the invention provides a system for attaching a mask to a helmet that is easily adjustable by the user, so as to ensure optimum sealing of the mask on the face of the user, without as much impact on the comfort of it.
According to a characteristic of the invention, the blocking member is provided with a lever, lockable in the locked position, and intended to cooperate with the rack.
The manner in which the invention can be implemented and the advantages which ensue therefrom will emerge more clearly from the example of embodiment which follows, given by way of indication and without limitation in support of the appended figures.
Figure 1 is a schematic representation in side view of the attachment device between a respiratory mask and a helmet according to the invention. Figure 2 is a schematic side view of the attachment device itself in the unlocked position. Figure 3 is a top view of the device of Figure 2, partially exploded.
Figures 4 and 5 are figures similar to Figures 2 and 3 with the latching system in the locked position.
It is therefore shown in relation to Figure 1 a helmet (1) provided with a respiratory mask (2) secured to said mask (1) by means of a fastening device according to the invention. This basically comprises flexible straps (3) secured on either side of the mask (2) by means of a screw (5), also serving as a point of articulation of said flexible strap (3) on the mask , thereby promoting the adaptability of the mask to the face of the user.
According to the invention, the flexible strips (3) have, at one of their main face, directed towards the outside when the mask is placed on the helmet, a rack (6) as well as the 'we can see it in Figures 2 to 5.
As a corollary, a carriage (4) is intended to translate along each of the two strips (3) and to cooperate with them by means of a locking assembly described below in more detail.
This carriage (4) is provided with a hook (7), arranged in fact on the face opposite to the face of the strips (3) carrying the rack, said hook being intended to cooperate with a mooring notch (12) shown in Figure 1, attached to the helmet shell (1).
The locking means of the carriage (4) on the rack (3) consist first of all of a lever (8), articulated at the level of a hinge pin (10) oriented parallel to the strap (3) and perpendicular to its main direction. Said lever (8) is provided with a means (not shown) cooperating with the teeth of the rack (6) when the latter is lowered.
In parallel, this lever (8) is lockable by means of an axis (11), capable of translating perpendicularly to the main direction of the strap (3), under the action of a knurled button or equivalent (9), as can be seen in Figures 2 to 5.
When the mask is placed on the helmet, the user slides the carriage (4) until the hook (7) cooperates with the mooring notch (12).
In order to adjust the tension, it exerts a tension on the straps (3) towards the rear and, by simple pressure on the lever (8), thus adjusts the tension that suits it, so as to keep the mask pressed down. on the face at the same time in a waterproof manner, but nevertheless comfortable. It then pushes on the knurled buttons (9) so as to lock the lever (8) according to the chosen position, in order to avoid any risk of accidental stalling.
It is understood that by the great simplicity of use of this attachment device, it nevertheless results in a guarantee of tightness of the mask on the face of the user, which we did not know to date with the devices. of the prior art.
