En variante, le reposoir 20 est solidaire de l'emballage 10 et avantageusement venu de matière avec celui-ci.The invention relates to a packaging for the transport of live aquatic animals, in particular animals belonging to the phylum of cnidarians or to the group of carididae or peneids.
The invention relates more particularly to a packaging for the transport of live aquatic animals containing water and at least one living aquatic animal.
Live aquatic animals, such as corals or shrimps which belong respectively to the phylum Cnidaria or to the groups made up of carididae and peneidae, are the subject of international trade most often intended to obtain specimens for aquariums.
These aquatic animals are thus exported from their countries or geographical areas of origin to different countries from which they are transported through distribution channels comprising for example an exporter who supplies an importer who supplies wholesalers who deliver to retailers themselves sell animals to individuals.
It is therefore necessary to condition the animals for all these transport operations, regardless of the duration of the transport.
However, the duration of transport can be significant because of the distances between the various participants in the distribution circuit and in particular between the country in which the initial packaging is carried out and the country in which the delivery is finally made, but also the means of transport. implemented.
For import-export operations, the transport of aquatic animals is generally done by air so as to reduce the duration of transport as much as possible.
During and for the duration of transport, the living aquatic animals are for example individually packaged in a sealed package such as a plastic bag containing in a certain amount of water and at least one animal.
Such packaging is frequently used because of its low cost and because it makes it possible to temporarily keep the animal in good conditions, in particular sanitary.
However, it will be readily understood that this period is necessarily limited and that, if it is prolonged, the life of animals can be threatened.
The duration of the transport varies in particular according to the aquatic animals transported, thus for certain animals it is very difficult to transport them even for a short duration without incurring the risk of a significant mortality rate.
In the case of aquatic animals such as cnidarians for example, and more particularly of coral belonging to the classes of anthozoans and hydrozoans, it has been found that a significant number of them collapse on themselves during transport and , therefore, suffocate.
In the case of aquatic animals such as caridids or penaeids, and more particularly shrimps, it has been found that they often have low survival rates after transportation, even for short periods.
It will therefore be understood that such a situation is not acceptable, both for the animals themselves which must be protected, and for the people who trade in them.
However, the duration of transport cannot be reduced below a minimum and it is essential, in order to ensure the profitability of such trade, that the costs attributable to packaging be as low as possible.
In addition, the duration of transport is sometimes extended for unforeseeable reasons such as logistics problems due to road or air traffic, technical problems such as breakdowns, weather conditions, strikes, etc.
However, to date there is no solution which makes it possible in particular to increase the survival rate, that is to say to guarantee that the living aquatic animals are kept in good conditions for a determined duration of transport.
For this purpose, the invention provides a packaging of the type described above, characterized in that it comprises at least one attachment support for the animal.
Surprisingly, it has been observed that, thanks to such a hanging support, the aquatic animals have very clearly higher survival rates and reach their destination in good conditions, in particular sanitary conditions, even after a period of transport. more important than before.
Advantageously, the attachment support can be made of low-cost materials such as expanded polystyrene or plastic.
According to other characteristics of the invention: - the attachment support is made of a material with a density lower than that of the water contained in the packaging so as to constitute a float; - the hanging support is made of expanded polystyrene; - The packaging includes means for attaching the animal to the float; - The animal is an animal belonging to the branch of cnidarians, such as a coral, and which comprises at least one foot which is held integral with the float by the attachment means; the attachment support is made of a material with a density greater than that of the water contained in the packaging and constitutes a resting place on which the animal belonging to the group of carididae or peneidae can hang during transport, so as not to get exhausted while swimming; - the animal is a shrimp.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the detailed description which follows, for the understanding of which reference will be made to the appended figures in which: - Figure 1 is a schematic view of a package comprising a attachment support according to the invention, which illustrates a first embodiment for the conditioning of an aquatic animal belonging to the phylum cnidarians; - Figure 2 is a schematic view of a package comprising a hanging support according to the invention, which illustrates a second embodiment for the conditioning of an aquatic animal belonging to the group of carididae or peneidae.
In the following description, identical reference numerals denote elements which are identical or have similar functions.
By convention, the terms left, right, upper, lower respectively designate elements or positions oriented respectively to the left, the right, the top, or the bottom of the figures.
In the description which follows the terms group or class branching are used in their usual sense of the classification system of the animal kingdom.
There is shown in Figure 1, a package 10 for the transport of live aquatic animals containing water 12 and at least one living aquatic animal 14 as it is after packaging according to a first embodiment of the 'invention.
The packaging 10 here consists of a plastic, transparent or opaque bag.
Alternatively, the package 10 is a container of generally parallelepiped shape of rigid or semi-rigid type, made of polystyrene or plastic.
As can be seen in FIG. 1, the package 10 is partially filled with water 12 so that the total volume of the package 10 includes a volume of water 12 occupying the lower part and an upper volume of gas 16.
The packaging 10 is closed at its upper part by closing means 18, preferably in a sealed manner.
The closure means 18 are for example constituted by removable means such as a clamp, a clip or even an elastic band so as to allow successive opening or closing operations without damaging the packaging 10.
As a variant, the bag 10 is closed by a heat-welding operation.
The gas occupying volume 16 is generally air, if necessary enriched more or less with oxygen before the packaging is closed, depending on the type of aquatic animal transported.
According to the first embodiment of the invention, the package 10 includes a hooking support 20 which is made of a material of density lower than that of water 12 so as to constitute a float.
Advantageously, the float 20 is made of expanded polystyrene, alternatively of wood or any other suitable material.
The aquatic animal 14 is for example a coral, belonging to the branch of cnidarians in particular to the classes of anthozoans and hydrozoans, which comprises a foot 22 and a head 24 branched into a plurality of branches.
The coral 14 is held integral with the float 20 by its foot 22 by means of attachment means 26, so that the coral 14 is maintained during transport with the head 24 downwards in the direction of earth's gravity.
The attachment means 26 here consist of an elastic, as a variant of the string, or any other harmless means.
FIG. 2 shows a package 10 for transporting live aquatic animals similar to that of FIG. 1, that is to say containing water 12 and a live aquatic animal 14.
In this second embodiment of the invention, the aquatic animal 14 is an animal belonging to the group of carididae or peneidae, such as a marine or freshwater decapod, that is to say a shrimp.
In accordance with the invention, the attachment support 20 is then made of a material having a density greater than that of the water 12 contained in the packaging 10.
Advantageously, the attachment support 20 constitutes a repository on which the shrimp can hang during transport, so as not to be exhausted by swimming continuously.
The rest 20 can be constituted by a pebble, or a plastic rod or any other suitable means and it can be free or not to move in the water 12 inside the packaging 10.
As a variant, the rest 20 is integral with the packaging 10 and advantageously made integrally with it.
