Abstract

The invention concerns a method for continuously coating at least one substrate B with a film of organic or mineral formulation in solution or dispersion, the viscosity of said formulation ranging between 0.001 and 100 Pa's at room temperature. Said method comprises the following steps: continuously unwinding the substrate B; driving in rotation a ductor roller with deformable surface; forming a uniform primary layer of controlled width and thickness of said formulation on the ductor roller; transferring all or part of said primary layer on an applicator cylinder with shape-retaining surface to form an intermediate layer, said applicator cylinder being located between the ductor roller and the substrate B and driven in rotation in the direction opposite to the unwinding direction of the substrate B; and transferring the whole thickness of the intermediate layer, from the applicator cylinder onto the substrate B while pressing the applicator cylinder against the substrate B to obtain a coating film with homogeneous thickness. The invention also concerns the device for implementing said method.
