Abstract

  The invention relates to a device for retaining a shoe on a sports machine, for which the retention of the shoe is done using at least one strap. Such devices are used for the practice of snowboarding or snowboarding, skiing on snow or water,

  snowshoeing, roller skating, or whatever.

  A strap device according to the prior art generally comprises a first lateral edge, a second lateral edge, and at least one strap connected to each of the edges by a

  first and second fasteners.

  This is for example the case in snowboarding where the boot is retained between the side edges. Each fastener has a series of holes made in an edge, a hole made in the strap, and a screw which passes through a hole in the edge and the hole in

the strap.

  Adjusting the position of the strap along the edge involves removing the screw using a tool, moving the strap relative to the edge, as well as

  reassembly of the screw using the tool.

  Adjusting the position of the strap along the edge is both long and tedious, especially when it is done on snow. The invention particularly aims to facilitate the positioning of a strap along an edge of a device

of restraint.

  For this, the invention provides a device for retaining a shoe on a sports machine, the device comprising a first side edge, a two side edge, and at least one strap connected to each of the edges by a first and a

second fasteners.

  The device according to the invention is characterized in that at least one of the fasteners has a guide located on one of the elements that are the edge and the strap, a cleat located on the other of the elements that are the edge and the strap, as well as a cleat locking mechanism

relative to the guide.

  A movement of the strap relative to the edge is done by sliding the cleat along the guide. This allows quick adjustment because there is no longer any need to disassemble the strap to adjust its position. Preferably the immobilization of the strap relative to the edge is done by a quick locking mechanism. It is thus possible to quickly and easily adjust the position of the strap along the edge, without performing

  successively disassembly and reassembly.

  Among the advantages which ensue there can be saved time, the absence of risk of losing an element of the device such as a screw, the absence of obligation to use a tool

outside the device.

  Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will be

  better understood with the help of the description which follows, in

  look at the appended drawing illustrating, according to nonlimiting examples, how the invention can be produced, and in which: - FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a retaining device, according to a first embodiment of the invention, - Figure 2 is a partial section on II-II of Figure 1, - Figure 3 is a section on III-III of Figure 2, - Figure 4 is a partial perspective view of a retainer, according a second embodiment of the invention, - Figure 5 is a section along VV of Figure 4, in a case where the locking mechanism is locked, - Figure 6 is a section similar to Figure 5, in a

  Although the examples described below relate more to the field of snowboarding, it should be understood that they apply

  also to other areas as mentioned before.

  The first example is presented using Figures 1 to 3.

  As seen in Figure 1, a retainer 1 allows the removable retainer on a board 2 of a shoe

not shown.

  In known manner, the retaining device 1 comprises a base 3 which extends longitudinally between one end

  rear 4 and one front end 5.

  The base 3 has an upper face 6 intended to be opposite the sole of the shoe, and a lower face 7

  intended to be above the board.

  The base 3 is retained on board 2 by a means shown in the form of a disc 10, itself retained on board 2

by screws 11.

  Of course, other means of retaining the base 3

could be expected.

  The base 3 is bordered laterally by a first edge 12 and by a second edge 13. When the shoe is in place on the device 1, the edges 12, 13 run along the sole laterally. The edges 12, 13 are connected by an arch 14 to the

rear end level 4.

  Preferably, the base 3, the edges 12, 13 and the arch 14 form a single piece made for example of synthetic material. However, provision could be made for the edges or the arch to be parts secured to the base by any other means, such as bonding, welding, screwing,

nesting, or whatever.

  As an accessory, a rear support element 15 allows a user to take rear supports with the lower leg. The rear support element 15 is secured to the edges

  12, 13 for example by means of a hinge 16.

  I1 is also provided two straps to retain in a way

  removable the shoe on the base 3, between the edges 12, 13.

  A first strap 20 is located towards the front, at the level of

  the metatarsophalangeal joint when the foot is retained.

  A second strap 21 is located towards the rear, at the level of the

  instep when the foot is retained.

  Each of the straps 20, 21 extends transversely between the

first 12 and second 13 edge.

  Of course, a different number of straps could be provided. Only one of the straps is described below, for convenience. For example, the first strap 20 is represented in the form of a combination of two portions, which are a first

  portion 22 and a second portion 23.

  A connecting means is provided for removably connecting the first 22 and the second 23 portions to one another. This means comprises for example a ratchet tightening mechanism 24, fixed at a free end 25 of the second portion 23. The connecting means also comprises a series of

  teeth 26, shaped on the first portion 22.

  By acting on a lever 30 of the mechanism 24, it is possible to tighten the strap 20 by approaching the free end 25 of the second portion 23 towards the first edge 12. By acting on a button 31 of the mechanism 24, it is possible to loosen the strap 20, or even open it. In the latter case, the

  first 22 and second 23 portions are separated.

  Of course, other means could be provided for

  connect the first 22 and second 23 portions.

  The first strap 20 is connected to the first edge 12 by a first clip 32, and to the second edge 13 by a two-piece

clip 33.

  According to the invention at least one of the fasteners 32, 33 has a guide located on one of the elements that are the edge 12, 13 and the strap 20, 21, a cleat located on the other of the elements that are the edge and the strap, as well as a macanism

  for quick locking of the cleat relative to the guide.

  For reasons of convenience, only one of the fasteners 32, 33 is described below, with the aid of FIGS. 1, 2 and 3. These are:

  the first fastener 32 of the first strap 20.

  Of course it should be understood that what concerns the first fastener 32 can be applied to all the fasteners of the straps. For the first embodiment of the invention, the guide is represented in the form of a slot 40, formed in the first edge 12 of the device 1. The slot 40 is oriented parallel to the edge 12, that is to say parallel to a longitudinal direction of the device, being delimited transversely by an outer wall 41 and an inner wall 42. The slot 40 opens at the lower face 7 of the device 1, from the top 43 of the edge 12, thus

only from the front face 44 of the edge 12.

  As shown in Figures 2 and 3, the cleat is itself in the form of a pin 50. The latter is for example mounted by force in a hole in the first portion 22 of the first strap 20, along an axis 51 substantially perpendicular to the first portion 22. After assembly, the pin 50 projects on either side of the first

portion 22.

  To allow the reception of the first portion 22 with the pin 50, the slot 40 has a wide portion 52 on the side of the lower face 7 of the device 1, as well as a portion

  narrow 53 near the top 43 of the edge.

  The portion 22 of the strap is introduced into the slot 40, passing the teeth 26 in a direction which goes from the wide portion 52 towards the narrow portion 53 of the slot. The portion 22 is pulled in the direction of introduction, until the pin 50 bears on the separation face 54

  wide 52 and narrow 53 portions of the slot 40.

  As can be clearly seen in FIG. 2, the slot 40 has a length, measured in the direction of the length of the edge 12, clearly greater than the diameter of the pin 50. Thus it is possible to move the pin 50, and consequently the portion 22 of the first strap 20, in the direction of the length of the

slot 40.

  To immobilize the pin 50 in a given position along the slot 40, use is made of the quick locking mechanism. The latter comprises on the one hand a specific shape given to the separation face 54, and on the other hand an elastic means which permanently urges the pin 50

towards the separation face 54.

  The latter has an alternation of projections and depressions, for example a central projection 55 which separates two

  hollow 56, 57. The shape of the separation face 54 is corrugated.

  Of course, a different number of

projections and troughs.

  The elastic means is shown in the form of a leaf spring 60, each of the ends 61, 62 of which is snapped onto ribs 63, 64 of the walls of the slot 40. The spring 60 is curved so as to press on the first portion 22 of the first strap 20. The support of the spring 60 takes place in the direction of mounting of the first portion 22. Thus the spring 60 keeps the first portion 22 in place relative to the slot 40, by contact of the pin 50 with the face of

separation 54.

  Each recess 56, 57 of the separation face 54 corresponds to a stable position of the pin 50. This means that without external action, the pin 50 remains in a fixed position along the slot 40. Of course, the circular shape of the pin 50 allows rotation along the axis 51. Thus the strap 20 can easily be pressed against the shoe during the retention in the device 1, or tilt towards

  the front for putting on or taking off.

  It can be noted that during the retention of the shoe, the tightening of the first strap 20 biases the pin 50 in the same direction as the spring 60. It follows that the pin 50 tends to remain all the better in the hollow that 'it occupies, and that the strap portion 22 is all the better maintained according to the

length of the device.

  If the user wants to adjust the longitudinal position of the strap portion 20, he just has to push by hand in the desired direction when the strap 20 is loosened. Beyond a given stress threshold, the spring 60 is deformed

  enough for the journal 50 to change hollows 56, 57.

  of course, the spring is calculated to allow easy manual handling, while preventing changes

untimely position.

  The second exemplary embodiment of the invention is described below with the aid of FIGS. 4 to 6. For reasons of convenience, these are mainly the specifics of the example.

  According to the invention the guide has on the one hand a first slot 85 and on the other hand a second slot 86, both

  The first slot 85 is parallel to the edge 83, being delimited traneverealement by an outer wall 87 and an inner wall 88. The first slot 85 opens at the top

  89, as well as in the front face 90 of the edge 83.

  The second slot 86 is substantially perpendicular to the edge 83, and passes through the first slot 85. The second slot 86 has the general appearance of an oblong hole, substantially parallel to the base 82. However, it may not be

parallel to the base.

  As shown in Figures 5 and 6, the pin 100 passes through the first portion of strap 84 so that its axis

  101 is substantially perpendicular to the first portion 84.

  The journal 100 is guided along the first edge 83 by the second slot 86, and the first portion of strap 84 is

guided by the first slot 85.

  The following arrangement is provided, for example, for the quick locking mechanism. A shoulder 102 is produced towards one of the ends of the journal 100. The latter is introduced into the second slot 86 by successively crossing the inner wall 88, the first portion 84, the outer wall 87, then a slider 103, until that shoulder 102 comes in

stop on the inner wall 88.

  A lever 104 is then added 104, at the other end of the pin 100, articulated along an axis 105 substantially perpendicular to the axis 101 of the pin. When the lever 104 is folded into a locking position towards the edge 83, as is the case in FIG. 5, a first series of teeth 106 of the slider 103 is engaged with a second series of teeth 107 of the outer wall 87 of the edge 83. This induces the immobilization of the cursor 103 along the edge 83. Consequently the pin 100 and the portion of strap 84 are immobilized along the edge. Again a rotation of the

  strap portion 84 is possible around the pin.

  When the lever 104 is retracted into an unlocked position, as is the case in FIG. 6, the first 106 and second 107 sets of teeth can separate. As a result the user can move the pin 100 and the strap portion 84 lengthwise of the second

slot 86.

  The user can thus adjust the position of the strap
